'Triple X' Going Strong At Box Office

During an overall lackluster weekend at the boxoffice in North America, Sony's 'Triple X' held onto the top spot for the second consecutive session, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie grossed $22.1 million -- down 50% from its pumped-up $44.5 million debut a week ago. The Vin Diesel starrer, helmed by Rob Cohen, has accrued a boxoffice war chest of $84 million in 10 days.

Buena Vista's "Signs" circled the second spot with $19.4 million, as the Mel Gibson starrer slipped a relatively modest 34% in its telling third weekend. The M. Night Shyamalan-helmed supernatural thriller has reaped $150.5 million after 17 days in release.

The weekend's two new wide releases -- Universal's "Blue Crush" from Imagine Entertainment and especially Warner Bros. Pictures' "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" starring Eddie Murphy -- failed to make much of a dent in the marketplace overall.
