I was a bit skeptical about going to see this movie after so many remakes lately being rated badly. I had to see it anyway and I rarely agree with the commercial critics anyway. This film kept me laughing all the way through. I watched the original T.V. show as a kid and enjoyed some of the references to it they made. The movie goes so many steps further though and adds a bit more depth and hilarity(is that a word) to the story.

The movie is still based on the Duke Boys being chased by the local police but the Dukes, played by Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville, kept the audience rolling in their seats. I remember Daisy being attractive but Jessica Simpson took it to a whole new level. It was a great debut for her. Willie Nelson was a great fit for Uncle Jessie and added an even more obnoxious and witty persona to the part. Burt Reynolds did a great job as Boss Hogg but I would've appreciated a slightly larger man playing the part (maybe Danny Devito ).

O.K. now for the action. The General Lee (the Duke Boy's orange 1969 Dodge Charger) pulled some of the best stunts I have seen in a long time and like the original the Duke Boys were always up to their necks in trouble. They definitely messed up quite a few cars in this film. This alone could be enough reason to see the film.

The movie is like taking the T.V. show and adding two scoops of "American Pie" and enrolling it in the "Police Academy" and then mix well. The audience was a good mix of young and old and everyone seemed to enjoy it. If you can appreciate a modern spin on old school antics, tons of high speed action, and semi-adult rip-roaring comedy you won't want to miss this one .
