The Story: Beginning with the ravaging affects of Avengers Disassembled and following the aftermaths of House of M, Civil War and Secret Invasion, culminating with the evil Reign of Norman Osborn, the Marvel Universe has been left with its greatest villains holding more power and control than ever before. On the brink of madness, Osborn, in his final bid to take total control, targets the final obstacle in his mission…Asgard. Events are set in motion forcing our heroes to put aside the deep rifts that have grown over the past seven years. Opposing them stand a horde of evil that has begun to take down the gods of the Golden Realm! SIEGE will rock the foundations of every super hero, villain and team in the Marvel Universe. As an era ends, one word will ring above all others…”SIEGE.”
Osborn is eventually going to go off the deep end and do something both massively epic and massively stupid.
Thor's been (Last I heard, maybe Rage or Kris can correct me here) out of favour in Asgard for a while. What better way for him to redeem himself? I don't know quite if Loki will get what's coming to him, but we'll see.
It looks like they're actually going the right way with this. They've had a rather awesome series of massive events that intertwine (Civil War, Secret Invasion, Dark Reign), and they're going to end it with a massive war in the most epic stage possible.
I don't mind paying the money to follow this if it delivers. If this is an anti-climax, Marvel will be receiving significant amounts of my money until they can prove they know how to start handling their titles.
Especially if they're gonna raise the prices.
I will say, though, that after Siege they definitely just need to leave the events alone until Winter 2010 at least.
See the cover of the issue, where Taskmaster seems to be challenging (an angry looking )Thor? DUDE - JUST RUN!
I knew Asgard has been looking like Minas Tirith since it's return for a reason. Now we can see a real Return Of The King type siege...
And maybe, its finally time...for Thor vs. Sentry.

I hope this event shows Ares actually having some form of loyalty or integrity, I mean, he's proven with his interactions with Fury that he has no loyalties to Osborn, and they could have quite a good thing with the whole, Immortals Vs Mortals, where Ares would potentially change sides to help Asgard.
It's not only Dark Avengers that are invading Asgard, the Thunderbolts, Avengers:Initiative and maybe Dark X-Men. Could also we see the return of the All-Father himself Odin? it's a very good possibility. Will we see Sentry, Venom cross the line against Thor's people?
