General stuff like what movies, music, hobbies and stuff like that. Leave them open ended so that she will want to talk and that will lead to longer conversations and she will reveal more stuff to talk about.

Not generally, if you are asking questions about the person that makes you interested in what they are about and what they like which is always good for conversation. Most people love to talk about themselves and will keep on talking and one started you only need to ask a few to keep it going.

Sure, I agree that asking A question will start up a conversation....but it's not much of a conversation when the guy justs keeps asking questions: "How old are you?" "16" "What's your favorite color?"
