Jim Hammond is the original hothead,smart aleck hero. he reminds me of namor sometimes,no wonder they don't always get along.when you think of it,they're kinda like opposite counterparts(water and fire,but both arrogant hotheads).anyway,here are some examples of jim's attitude
1.Jim insults his young partner Toro,calling him a "little fool" for so easily believing that strange men would lead him to his deceased parents(Human Torch #3): http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/...ntorch03-03.jpg
4.Torch is upset at a few criminal for setting a bomb in a hospital and he shoves toro out of the way when he trys to stop him,suggesting that maybe torch should let the police handle it(marvel comics #20): http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/...ystery20_07.jpg

Jim is a torch who scraps for his one reason i like him more than johnny.he's always smacking someone around.he has flame-power,but still most often will take on a human opponent with his bare-fists.admirable

jim can regularly(without going nova) produce "nova flame bursts" (highest intensity heat blasts, similar to the heat-pulse of a nuclear warhead).the heat-pulse of a nuclear war-head can reach temperatures equivalent to those in the interior of the sun.so yeah,just in case you didn't know,jim is hotter than johnny.
it would appear that jim is only super-resistant when he flames on.while not ignited,he seems to have regular human resistance(not always).but while ignited,he................ah,just see for yourself:
as of now,if you want to see the original human torch(along with the original invaders) in action,you should check out the current limited(12 issue) avengers/invaders series.the first 4 issues have already come out,so you'd have to order them off a site or go to a comic shop that holds back-issues,but the next one comes out in october,and it shines the spotlight on torch,so if you wanna see the original human torch alive and kicking in the modern age,check it out.
well,this is the end of the road for the torch.............at least for the golden age.here are just a few assorted feats that i haven't shown yet.after this,there's just torch's fight with a giant dinosuar,then that's it for the golden age.
but later,we enter the silver age,where the original human torch schools johnny storm!

5.Torch first "catches" a bullet in his mouth(it's shot into his mouth but melts on contact with his flame).then he snatches a man's gun with a fiery lasso.he also forms a dagger made of flame and taunts a man with it: http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/...torch38pg04.jpg
7.torch takes out 10 machine guns with a shot from each of his finger tips.him and toro destroy 20 together.then torch dismantles a tank by crawling into the barrel.after this he catching a fighter jet and he(along with toro) cuts both of it's wings off.that's not all though,after this,torch forms a bow and arrow from flame and shoots it at a man's bottom.lol,it would appear that he is also a good aim: http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/...torch38pg12.jpg
It's the original human torch and toro vs a giant dinosaur! the dinosaur is extremely resistant to fire and unaffected by artillery shells,but torch thinks of his feet:
Torch enters the silver age with a bang,as he takes on jonny storm! Jim shows johnny why he is the original.jim is under mind control and trying to fight it,but it is clear he has the upper hand.he is stronger,larger,and more experienced.johnny first trys to run.then he trys a sneak attack.johnny begins to fight him,but he's not even hurting him.then jim hits johnny with a special flame that even hurts him.after this jim apparently gives johnny a revitalizing flame on purpose.it's clear jim doesn't really want to harm him,but it is also clear who's the better torch.The Original Human Torch:
Jim Hammond re-surfaces for the first time in the silver-age since his encounter with johnny(it might be considered the bronze age,i don't know).it is in the Giant-Size Invaders #1 June,1975. even in this new age,torch is quickly identified as master of all flame,even speaking to them: (please log in to view the image) (please log in to view the image)
then, Jim has a few words shared with NAMOR THE SUB-MARINER,his oldest friend/foe.i don't care what anyone says, talking to namor like that and not having him pound you into dust is a feat.lol: (please log in to view the image)
