If it were made 10 years ago, maybe Tcheky Karyo would have been a fine Dr. Strange. Depp would subvert the role a little too much, the whole "Strange" thing is precarious enough without his comic undercurrent destroying any hope of a suspension of disbelief.
I think Josh Hartnett might make a good Strange, solid actor has the build to play someone equally at home in a library and in battle.
Hope they do something to change the origins and make it less naff though.
I wonder if his origins would be period. He does have an immortal lifespan granted to him by Eternity, so you could go very far back with his beginnings.

the stuff about a car accident mangling his hands and not being able to carry on with his career as a neurosurgeon. maybe they could work that as being the result of something magical in the first place.
If a Dr Strange movie is happening, I hope its in the same universe the Avengers movie took place. It would be a prelude to a Defenders movie. Then an AVD Movie
Daniel Day Lewis would be interesting. If it was possible I would have loved to see what Paul Newman could do with the part. Another option could be Aidan Gillen if he can tone down his doucheness a bit.
God, it would be another Gothic camp fest if Tim Burton joined him, or gonzo actioner if Depp recruited Gore Verbinski. Let's spare ourselves the trouble by saying no to the about-to-turn-50 year old Depp.
Don't see how this is happening anytime soon, with Marvel Studios announcing their slate of films right to the end of 2015.
Or maybe Dr. Strange will appear somewhere else first where it makes sense. Say...Thor: The Dark World?

Well I put that face because he doesn't have the right look at all and he's a younger guy. Probably around Evans' and Hemsworth's age which.... wouldn't work at all.
