While funny, the story header is a bit misleading, PETA places billboards all around with their anti-meat/anti-animal abuse message; so it really isn't something unusual for them.
Not to mention the ones that they kill directly. Little known fact, Peta takes in really sick animals and keeps them in cages in the basement of their main building until they get around to euthanizing them.
Pretty sure PETA doesn't torture animals, kinda what they're against...
Don't get me wrong, I too can be annoyed by the overly hostile vegans yelling "Meat is murder!", sickly-looking ones telling healthy looking omnivores they're unhealthy and the other acts they pull, but demonizing PETA as animal abusers is silly.
Oh I'm not demonizing them as animal abusers, I'm simply pointing out that they do something that they call others animal abusers for. I don't object at all to putting sick animals to sleep, I do object to hypocrisy though. They don't let the sick animals run free as is natural, they put them in cages, and then they kill them.
The NYT fell for this. Keep in mind this letter was even signed "Whitey" lol.
The letter they got that is totally real:

I don’t talk about my feelings because it’s hard to justify doing so while people of color are dying due to systemic racism and making this conversation about me would be again centering whiteness. Yet bottling it up makes me feel an existential anger that I have a hard time channeling since I don’t know my place. Instead of harnessing my privilege for greater good, I’m curled up in a ball of shame. How can I be more than my heritage?"

Zuckerberg stated he thought Alex Jones was trying to get himself banned, for the public attention. It sounded like he didn't really want to play his game, but did it because that's what the public wanted.
Is public pressure really that it powerful? I mean, what if everyone decided to just ignore the public? What could happen?
They stop consuming? Stop using social media and buying stuff? I doubt it...
People complain all the time about the stuff they consume. And they go on consuming it anyways.
Edit: I mean, the obvious answer is "pressure from affiliates to bow to pressure." But in that case, it's not the public pressure at all, but the fear of alienating partners too skittish to take the risk of alienating the public...

My folks went to school with the "taco mayor". The guy who, when asked what he planned on doing for the Hispanic community, spouted off "I dunno! Maybe I'll order tacos!"
You could see the reporter form a "Buggs Bunny" smirk from that one.
