-students at Evergreen college were able to hold their faculty hostage basically... over one teacher saying he wouldn't participate in white people leave campus day
-several violent riots
-suppression of free speech on college campus via heckler's veto, disruption of events, a chilling effect on people who might otherwise speak on college campuses due to threat of violence, a requirement of exorbitant security fees for some speakers because of threats of violence, several students being afraid to say what they actually think
And this is just what they do in America, where luckily we have a first amendment, rule of law, and not weird open borders shit. In other countries it's a lot worse.
In Canada for example, Justin Trudeau appointed his cabinet, some of the most important positions in Canada, on the basis of diversity rather than pure merit. Trudeau's recent economic plan was heavily focused on the wage gap myth when there are several other real and more serious economic problems that require attention. You can get arrested for hate speech for protesting a mosque that has an Imam and his audience singing "Allah please kill those filthy Jews." In fact just the existence of hate speech laws and laws like Bill C-16 in general is horrible.
In the UK you can get arrested and charged a heavy fine for making a comedic video with a pug doing nazi shit, or get arrested and put on parole for posting rap lyrics with the N-word to honor a dead child. In the UK police have been afraid to actually deal with Muslim rape gangs due to fear of being labeled racist. Money is being poured into a police hub specifically for the purpose of police monitoring social media to arrest people for saying offensive things on the internet... all the while their police are falling short in a lot of other serious areas involving violent crime and terrorism. According to Sadiq Khan he didn't have enough resources for the police to keep tabs on people who had returned to the UK from terrorist organizations, but he has money to spend on increasing police regulation of offensive speech on the internet. And the British government has repeatedly and intentionally put Tommy Robinson's life in danger by putting him in the same prison area as people who obviously want to murder him. Not to mention the fact that the BBC used taxpayer money to feature a transgender woman in a video basically sponsored by the British government where she said shit like "white people are the most destructive force of nature on the planet," something that shouldn't be subsidized by the British taxpayer.
And in a lot of other European countries there are similar examples.
So yes, SJWs carry serious problems and consequences with them that go beyond throwing milk in somebody's face. Problems you can't just hand wave by saying "but the alt-right shot people."

Here's the thing though, I don't feel any partisan need to defend myself from people shitting on the alt-right... because I'm not an identitarian weirdo.
And that's really the thing, the criticism of SJWs doesn't apply to all leftists, and the criticism of the alt-right doesn't apply to all on the right, because the problem being discussed with these groups isn't a matter of left-wing versus right-wing, it's a matter of identitarian collectivism vs individualism. Libertarians, typical conservatives, classical liberals, and social liberals do not bear the brunt of either of these criticisms because they do not push an ideology based primarily around identity groups and instead believe in judging individuals as individuals and not bringing a person's identity into it.
