the hell he wasn't eddie had the symbiote for what was hinted at to be weeks even months.. there was nearly a year gap between spideman's ridding of the symbiote and the first appearance of venom himself..
even then venom played a huge amount of mind games with spidey and even used prep to his advantage to get spiderman at his mercy..
angelo went after spiderman THE FIRST NIGHT he had the symbiote...

After a year of bonding with the symbiote that would allow the host and the symbiote to become closer, allowing for more synchronous movement, and prevent occurances like at the end of the fight where Angelo gave up but the symbiote wanted to fight.
Angelo didn't have that bond, and hence it was like a kid in a bluky rather than someone who knows what theyr're doing in the mech.
Neither have fought, but who do you think would do better in battle? The kid or the trained piolet?
