the kid from James and the Giant Peach wasnt in CHarlie and the Chocolate Factory.. -- James and the Peach movie was made about what 7 -8 yrs ago... he's not a kid anymore

From what I saw, it looked much more "dark" than the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory version.
But, having actually watched the film, I was pleasently surprised. There were a fair few changes to the book, but nothing that ruined it in anyway. Compared to the original film, it was quite different - but then again, it wasn't meant to be a remake, just a different way of percieving the book, which is great. On the whole, a good film - shame the Oompa Loompa songs weren't quite so good 😛

It's an OVERWHELMING opinion that the original is better than this "remake". Besides, it's a figure of speech. Anyone who wholeheartedly appreciates cinema will agree that this new version doesn't even come close to the magic of the original.
