Ed Wood, was watchable
Nightmare before, was ok and quite clever
Sleepy Hollow, was ok
Ed Scissors was excellent
but think of the dross and his record with remakes (ok I can only think of planet of the apes) but the original is a fave (despite having no respect for a certain stars stance on firearms). I hated Beetle Juice, Peewee, Big fish etc, etc. Yup, I stand by my comment overated, as for him being a Goth, questionable. That aside he started in the movie business at 13 so he was a prodigy to a point.
Whirly have you gone mad?? 😛
Ed Wood - one of the best films EVER!!
TNBC - FANTASTIC! loved it & can wait for The Corpse Bride
ES - definitely a classic
Apes - omg how wretched 😘
Beetlejuice - Wonderful! Bravo!
Big Fish - so friggin great. have seen it 100 times and STILL adore it!!
(oh and his cameo in Singles is still one of the all time best cameos ever! 😛)
My boyfriend and I watched this at the cinema recently and we both enjoyed it immensely. Depp was fantastic in his portrayal of Willy Wonka, he surpassed himself ✅ I've always loved him but in this role he managed to conjure up something a little different from the norm.
The best thing about the movie, for me, was the fact that Willy Wonka was given more of a persona, and a background. In the original he was simply a character, albeit a main one, with no personal origin to speak of. In the new film, he is given a past where we find out he has issues with his father and upbringing... this really helped to give the movie a more substantial basis, and was done extremely successfully.
Admittedly, I was worried about how Wonka would be compared to Michael Jackson, but upon seeing the film I can safely say that from my point of view any comparison is unfair. I can see how it would seem they are similar, in superficial ways, but I trusted Wonka implicitly throughout the whole movie and I wouldn't trust Jacko for a moment 🙄
Anyway, I'm digressing, if you haven't already seen this film I suggest you do so, it's a brilliant remake and I wasn't disappointed at all 😄
