DUDES!!
Well before it came out i kinda wanted to see it but then i was like what the heck JD is in it and it is charlie and the chocolate factory(one of my favorite books) so i went to see it. I AM SOOOOO GLAD I WENT TO SEE IT, IT WAS BETTER THAN I THOUGHT. I still like the original better cause u know its the original, and i LOVE the songs!!
POTC IT THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE>>>>>>EVER!!!!
I was horrified when I saw it. I was curious, so I saw it in the theater when it came out. I'm a big Tim Burton fan and also a big Johnny Depp fan, so I thought, 'how bad can it be?' I ended up walking out of the theater 2/3 of the way through. The original was so beautiful, and Gene Wilder played Willy Wonka so wonderfully, but the new version almost ruined it for me. Depp's depiction of Willy Wonka was disturbing, and I also had a problem with the oompa loompas. Anyone agree?

It feels like a kid again while I'm watching this movie. I think this movie is much better than the first one, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory. Don't forget to brush your teeth after you've watched this movie.haha....
Hello. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was crap. I like Johnny Depp but I hated him in this role. I know that they wanted to follow Roald Dahl's classic novel, but they should've just let well enough alone. The original Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory has and will always be the best.

yeah.exactly.I could not have said it better either.Tim Burton is an idiot film maker. That is when it comes to making a movie out of classic material. The idiot screwed up Batman,he screwed up Planet of the apes, now he royally ruined the image of willie wonka with this disgraceful film. 😠 Burton needs to stay away from classic proven material and do his OWN stuff.when he does his own stuff such as Nightmare before christmas or edward scissorhands,he'll churn out a good product once in a while but EVERYTIME he gets his hands on proven material such as willie wonka, ect, that idiot ruins it all. 😠
Let me start off by saying that I ALWAYS hated Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. As a child I remember dreading that movie coming on. I thought Willy Wonka was a loser and Charlie Bucket's grandparents sleeping the same bed weirded me out and all that technicolor happy crappy and that dirty ass waterfall which was supposed to be chocolate but looked like brown water and those idiotic oompa loompas and their idiotic songs...Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory has always just been a movie that I loathed ever since I can remember.
So when this came out, I was not interested AT ALL. I love Tim Burton and always have. At the time I really was annoyed about Johnny Depp though. Sick of everyone talking about how hot sexy and wonderful he was. I didn't even think he was attractive at the time. So when my friend begged me to see this film and ended up tricking me into watching it I was pissed. I hated the original. Remakes are always worse than the original. Why would I want to see this?!?!
But then I watched it. This movie is so different from Willy Wonka And the Chocolate Factory. I remember reading that Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was hated by Roald Dahl (so I have something in common with him, lol) and that because of it he became so disillusioned with Hollywood that he wouldn't let people remake anymore of his books. Also I learned that the movie was called Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory because a candy company planned to launch a line of candy under the Wonka name so they were using this movie as a springboard.
Where was I? O anyway I loved this movie. Freaking loved it. In fact I just got it on DVD for Christmas after having rented it again a few weeks ago and remembering that I loved it. I don't know how my friend knew I would love the film but I am glad she tricked me into seeing it.
This movie was just better than the original IMO. I liked the Oompa Loompas songs better than the other Oompa Loompas. I liked all the kids better (especially Violet, she kicked ass in this one, literally) and the ultimate blasphemy...I like Johnny Depp's version of Willy Wonka way better than Gene Wilder's. Willy Wonka was meant to be a obsessive genius weirdo, not some singing father figure. It was more believable to me that JD's Willy Wonka was a obsessed candy maker who had little contact with people than it was that Gene Wilder's was. Depp once again creates an odd yet memorable character.
The factory looked a million times better, but I will admit prolly more so because of bigger budget and a more imaginative director and improved technology. And the great glass elevator in this movie was better too obviously for similar reasons.
Plus this was more faithful to the book.
Overall I definitely think this was a far better movie than the original. At least for me.
