No, you just act like you have no idea what it is you're looking for, they sense they can get a big commish out of you and try to sell you the shiny expensive one, you say "hmm, Imma think about it" they hate that because some other schmucky clerk will get the sale later so they try to get you into something decent and you say "I think I seen that one on sale at Walmart" by this time they will just discount it to get the sale and move onto someone else.

A boomer family member wanted to convert old videos, and stone walled me about anything having to do with laptops of phones, he's old fashioned and wants to relax on the couch with tech he understands. I was gonna buy him an old player assuming no one wants obsolete tech, and see 400-1000 price tags.
In fact EVERYTHING is way too pricey now. Isn't there anything nobody wants and gives away for 5 dollars anymore?
