Human ecology within his community and way of life--what was available for food at the time. Red tomatoes for example have been forbidden in many cultures for centuries. They were seen as poison but we know that not to be true today. Infact, we know that what makes a red tomatoe dangerous are the seeds inside the tomatoes.
