Now that someone mentioned Forrest Gump. I don't get it. I thought it was a story not worth telling. Waste of time and effort. I know most people feel different but I don't like Forrest, don't like Jenny, don't like Lt Dan, don't like Bubba. Don't like anything about the movie.
I have more I don't understand but that is a big one. Most everyone thinks it is a good movie.

Hey now Dan was used up and thrown away by an ungrateful government, fact is he had good reason for his fall.
To be blunt he really would have been better off going out in that blaze of glory he wanted.
But yeah have to agree with you, I just rewatched the show last night and my middle school/high school memories are clearly rose colored by nostalgia. Jenny was AWFUL, and the whole story went nowhere (The running for 3 years bit is what you call "filler", was a completely unnecessary segment added to fill up time.)
