See this is why I wish you'd watch my vids, it explains it berter then I could.

But basically the major gun violence, while very very bad, amounts to less then the lives saved. Like 3000 people who used guns to either defend lives or their own.

While in any given year maybe 8 die of violence (Not including suicides, which is dumb to lay at guns feet because a person wants to off themselves they WILL find a way)
