Low-yield nuclear weapons, also known as tactical nuclear weapons, are smaller and have lower explosive yields than strategic nuclear weapons. They are designed to be used on the battlefield to counter large conventional forces. Typically 1-50 kilotons whereas an ICBM would be 100 kilotons to 25 megatons.
