USH'S LOTR RP Game part 2- The Fortress of Baranar

Started by Ushgarak211 pages

"I am a practical man," says Baranar. "I am not given to such introspection." He sighs.

"They will have to come in through the main gate. If they are pursued, we cannot risk opening the sallying port for them- if that port is seen, it is an obvious weak point for attack."

"I think we should go as soon as possible... That way those inside the fortress will see us sooner and know to open the gate... That, and I think we will be less prone to attack if we go when only the Dunlendings are out."

"If we attack now, in daylight, the hillmen will simply wake up their masters, the orcs. We know that orcs hate the daylight, and attacking now will give us a greater chance of surviving. the same as with the night. The orcs would wake up the hillmen and we would have the same scale to fight. I say we attack now in daylight."

"We should ride to the gate trying to avoid combat. The sentinels in Barabar will open the gate for us fo sure. It is unnecessary to hve a fight. They will not the catch us, maybe they will try to throw us their axes, but I think we may avoid the orcs archers"

((I assume that the dunlending have no horses"

"I agree."

What's that in your pic Corlindel?

"We will not attack, there is no point in attacking it will only get yourself killed."

does a longbow have the enough range to hit inside the fortress?I was thinking of shooting an elven arrow inside to let them know we're here. Then to use a bit of cover from them when we head for the gate.A quick get in I think..this is the best way to use our element of surprise.

It MIGHT be possible to shoot an arrow in there- but if Baranar notices, the Orcs and Dunlendings will too- losing you surprise.

What is the layout of Baranar and the surrounding land?

"I did not mean attack. I meant we should move in daylight."

(ush am i still in the game? if so have someone control eliara til after the 15th. my computer at home is broke until my husband comes back and i can't get to this site from work and the only day i can get on is on saturdays. if you take her out of the game i do understand. 🙁

((I don't see why he would... Though on the other hand I doubt he wants somebody else controlling your character... Risk of getting killed and all that...))

If the orcs have horses..we could work on scaring them away, first.
Maybe even make a few of them follow them..

Orcs do not use horses.

Corlindel says: "At daylight orcs will be surpeised and they will have no time to react before we reach the gate of the fortress. Even if they havw Wargs. If we manage some kind of distraction, better. If not - I cant remember any - the only way shall be ride as fast as we can."

((How close can we get to the fortress with terrain cover and how far we will be from the gate then? Are there any wargs or horses near the orcs/dunl.? Hey As Ush said, I think that only mages can ask. So. What are you waiting for?))

Do they have Wargs in this game?

~Ush, what does my char think we should do?~

*Slaps forehead*
why didn't I think of that!

If my char thinks differently, tell me too, please?

Small technical problem with the RPs right now, guys, bear with me...

Yes, Orcs use wolves and wargs in this game, but they do not have any here, for which you can be thankful.

I am afraid your Mage is not a tactician, Kai (nor yours, tpt!) (anyone can ask questions like that, btw, not just Mages). But you reckon the simpler the plan, the better. All you guys need is thirty seconds and a clear run. The lines surropund the fortress, but they are not that deep- there are not enough of them.

The fortress is in open ground, there is no terrain cover to speak of (a deliberate choice of location on the part of the builders). The building itself is a rather squat rectangle with a keep and a high tower.

The Mages also concur that a distraction is a good idea.

((As a spirit animist, can Aiwendil do anything offensive? or does she have to rely on weapons and her brains?))
