No, there have been no strangers lately, say the Nurses, leaving you pondering.

"Only bad omens," they add. Uh-oh...

"go on.." says Vardalain interested

Well, they are not experts in the area of prediction but thr week before the first people fell ill, there was a rainstorm over and around the fortress- and the rain was black.

"Black rain?! Surely a curse of the Witch King!" Talin says, crushed. "We need our magicians to counter this! But I do not think they would be strong enough to combat the Witch King with magic."

(is there another way i would know in approaching the problem differently, now that i know magic is involved?)

Well... maybe, if... ummm... you are not sure... you could try...

Vardalain... you cannot cure this. These people are all going to die.

And Talin is right. And power of this magnitude can be no whim or random move. This is an attack.

"What the hell, I think we should leave at once,with all remaining HEALTHY ppl, the elves can stay to care for the sick if they wish"

"Indeed. Lord Baronar, there is nothing we can do for the sick. Nothing at all." Talin looks angered, his face white with rage. "The only idea I could think of is contacting a Wizard like Gandalf or Saruman! But surely that would take too long. We probably could not find Gandalf, for he wanders so, and Isengard is a long ways away!"

"Lord Gorlim, I had feared the worst for this journey. The Barrow Wights were unexpected, and that was bad! And then this! So far, my axe and sword have not touched a single Orc hide on this journey! I feeled as if this whole journey was cursed!"

I assume, therefore, that you are telling Baronar and co of this problem? Technically, only Vardalain and anyone he tells (i.e. you guys, I assume) know.

BTW, Argentis, Vardalain can tell you that there is no 'helathy people' Everyone here is infected, it is only a matter of time.

It may be that all of you non-Elves are infected also.

"We must get out of here! Fast!" Anglomir shouts. He tells Baronar that the whole thing is a curse.

Of course, Vardalain can't be certain of that... he doesn't understand much about it...

Vardalain, as I was saying, there are no uninfected people. If they were here for the rain, they will die sooner or later. As for the mortals, you have brought- you do not know. It depends if the effect of the rain lingered.

"What?" says Gorlim. "We cannot POSSIBLY let Baronar fall, it would be a disaster!"

"I've just worked out why the Orcs were in the Downs..." says Baronar, thougtfully.

Vardalain- Talin is right, you cannot find a Wizard.

But... you don't WANT a Wizard, do you?

(actually..i think i wouldn't mind having gandalf for a cup'o' tea, tight now :0 )
