Vardalain and Palanfirith have indeed had the opportunity to pick up some wealth and resources in your time adventuring. Whilst I have no idea how capitalist Elves are, you may indeed buy yourself a decent quality Elvish bow. At this point, that's just a better bow. It's a while down the line before you get bows with very specific qualities.
Argentis, yuo are taken to be rested, along with your horse. The Elves here always treat visitors well.
Rivendell is as splendid and beautiful as ever, a world apart from the falling world outside, only a few miles away. Little wonder so few Elves venture out of this wondrous place, for what reason would any have to visit the vulgar, hostile, crumbling world of Man?
There is little ceremony day to day here. Palanfirith and Vardalain, you are simply allowed through to see Elrond as if Elves returning after long journeys in your coniditon are an every day occurence.
Elrond is on one of Rivendell's watching balconies. He is in one of his 'long stare' moods.
"So," he says, "you have returned. What news do you bear for me?"
Palanfirith salutes Elrond respectfuly, and then he says
"Master Elrond,we came with great problems. After we complete our job to reach Fornost we voluntered to help with the peace alliance and we traveled to Baronar to search for the lords support in this matter. The fortress was taken down by an ill that even Vardalain couldn't cure it and the orcs are planning an iminent attack upon the fortress. We came to ask for guidance and for the cure...
And as we we're coming here the Last Bridge was taken by orcs and dark forces were patroling all the shore around Rivendell. There is something going on as dark forces came closer then ever before to Rivendell..."
"Yes," says Elrond. "I know about the Last Bridge. And the Orcs on the river banks. I have over a hundred scouts out riding the lands to the west and south to bring me information. All the resources I can spare are now being given to keep watch on our SOUTH. Our north, Rhudaur, still needs all the protection from that I can afford that. It is becoming difficult to manage our numbers. It was impossible for us to guard against any serious attempts to take the Last Bridge and such an attempt has now come. That route is closed for the forseeable future. We can only hope they grow bored of grrisonig it.
"Now. Tell me about this Alliance. And before we speak more of this particular problem, tell me of Arthedain and its people. I need new information about the people and situation there. Mithrandir told me about Malbeth's death- that is a shame."
