"we were heading for the fortress of Baronar" says Vardalain
"we encountered a most peculiar desease. highly contagious. my test cases seemed to have perished even though they were getting better, all of a sudden. The locals describe a black rain, as the begining of this. "

"Yes, yes..." says Elrond, distractedly. Such details don't seem to interest him. "What actually was your purpose in going there?"

(fiiiiiitch!..'elp! )

The Evil Lord Elrond ia asking questions, aid me!!!!!!

😂

(Wasn't your reason so that King Arvedui could make an alliance with the Lord Baronar, who's got a strong fortress and military, one of the few Lords left in Cardolan, so they could have SOME hope of combating the Witch King?)

Well, to remind people...

Arvedui's plan is ti beat the Prophecy of his name by creating a new Kingdom, so he will indeed be the Last King of Arthedain, and become the First King of the new Kingdom (as opposed to the other interpretation, which is that he is the Last King because everyone is about to die)

Having failed to unify with Gondor, he now plans to unify with Cardolan, which means convincing all the Lords to unify under him. Baronar is a powerful Lord, with faint Dunadan heritage, and was willing to listen to your cause, so you were going to convince him first, to be the first step of the way!

Er...right...that's what I said...but not really...

The essence fo what you said is right. The relation to Malbeth's Prophecy is important though. You liked Malbeth, after all!

Yes, I did!

And the point of that was to prove to you that Malbeth is no fraud.

"You'll need this more than I do where you are going," he said. And from what he said before, he knew he was going to die also, if you check back.

Yes, so I noticed.

let's see

"we travelled to the fortress to convince lord baronar to join arvedui's plan of reuniting cardolan" says VArdalain

"I see..." says Elrond. "And what do you think of that plan? And of Arvedui's entire strategy?"

No-one ever wants to re-create scenes like the Council of Rivendell, do they? No, you just want to go on to the enormous war we have at the end of this Part, don't you?

well I care for the damn talking but I don't think the snobby lil elves will find it nice if the eotheod rider destroys their meeting

Heh... actually, Elrond will see you now, Argentis. Now he has moved on to things diplomatic, he will hear what you have to say, now you are here.

"Greetings Lord Elrond, your reputation proceeds you, might I express my gratitude for your kindness. You have a very impressive house here in Rivendel, I can see why it is so famous."

Elrond nods. "Your courtesy speaks for you well, Master of Horses. Do you have anything to add to the tale my ambassadors tell me?"

"They told the Tale well and with detail, all I can ask of you is that you help out the world of man one last time this age. I know we are scattered and divivded (sorry but I love that sentence in the movie) That we have called upon the aid of our elven allies too many times already. But as you well know human civilizations are like the storming sea's always in motion and hard to prodict. We don't have the luck, although I assume it can be bitter as well, to be blessed with immortality. This is all together the greatest strength and weakness of our culture, one weakness which you do not have. Humans are driven to become as famous and sometimes as powerful as they can become in their short life. This makes us mostly think about ourself and less about the greater good for ourself and for our species. But with Arvedui's plan we would start the reuniting of the human kin and it might be the start to a thing, we all dream about the unitation of the world of man.
But failing to aid Baronar now, when it needs aid the most, would surely make this plan fail before it has even get of the ground."

*pauzes for a moment*

"As I have heard you have lost many lives in the aiding of man and you have very lil men to spare, since you are under the threat of attack yourself. But maybe you can aid Baronar in a different way, what Baronar needs above all right now is the cure to that disease not elven troops. Ofcourse elven troops would be greatly appreciated but the cure will be a long time investment, into an even longer timed investment, The Possible Unificatio of Man"

"Your mortality is a gift," says Elrond, "though as such arguments destroyed Numenor, I am not minded to have them again, You speak of unification. Arvedui failed once, due to the pride of others. Do you have faith he can succeed in his second attempt?"

"His plan has potential I can not forsee the future so I can not guarantee it, but I think it is the last chance in a long time for unification. However it all stands and falls with Baronar."
