I dunno why the starting Elves imagine they have spent their lifetimes accumulating goods and money. This is simply not the case; Elves are not very materialist. A lot of you have had long journeys to get here also, upon which you probably spent your small change, and likewise you are wearing what you TRAVEL in, not the entire contents of your house. So it's not as if a weapon and clothing is all you own, but it IS all you have with you.
And if you are going to go to Baranar, which, remember, is not in an official capacity, as such, then you have to pay your own way. That's life...
