hey guys talking bout Harry and Ginny found an essay
Ginny the Typical Weasley
I simply do not see how JKR can make a Harry/Ginny romance come off as anything but hackneyed and
contrived should she feel the need to write it. Ginny would suddenly have to become the most important focus
in Harry's life. In real life, people can fall in love suddenly, inexplicably, but in literature, an author must set
things up so that his/her readers can go back and trace the clues and hints that lead up to the romantic
revelation and feel it is right and logical. All the hints and clues for Harry/Ginny seem to point to generic hero
tales and legends and are not developed enough to hold any expositional weight.
I believe that Ginny truly has an important role to play. With her spunk and fire, I think she will prove to be a
valuable asset in the coming war, but I sincerely don't think she is right for Harry. Why, indeed, must she be
the hero's love interest to be important to the story? As she grows up, she seems increasingly a typical
Weasley. They are all loyal (except Percy) and brave and stubbornly hold to their own beliefs. When they love,
it seems to be with a general gregariousness that encompasses anyone who will allow them. Although they are
unfailingly kind and generous with their time and talents, none of them seems to be willing to delve into
another's heart and soul--to understand beyond the superficial. There is a detachment in respect to their
singular individualities. You notice that Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, as much as I adore them, never communicate
with any depth of perception or deep understanding. They simply allow each other to be who they are and
argue through any disagreements. While Percy is still at school and not getting along well with the family, there
is no true effort to draw him in, he is made fun of by the twins and Mrs. Weasley further alienates the children
from each other by heaping praise on Percy and condemnation on the twins. Why can't Mrs. Weasley see the
twins own formidable talents and allow them to be who they are? Why must they become Percy for her to be
proud of them? Despite her generally outgoing nature, Ginny feels an overwhelming need to write in Tom
Riddle's Diary during her second year because 'no one understands her.' Ron comes closest to breaking away
from this pattern because of his close association with Harry and Hermione, but in OotP, he censors Hermione
for trying to talk Harry out of putting himself in unnecessary danger and is congratulated by the twins for being
a 'true Weasley.' It is evident this pattern is adopted by Ginny in the library scene when she neglects to ask
Harry why he needs to speak to Sirius so badly. Her gregarious Weasley nature is there to assist a friend in any
way possible, her typically Weasley respect for the rights of privacy and individuality prevent her from asking
too many questions. This Weasley type of love is what most of us who have loving families understand--warm
sweaters when its cold, fudge, mothers who heap our plates with (too many) good things to eat, a comfortable
home with furniture worn out by so many people sitting on it, parents who are proud when we do well, fuss and
scold when we are stupid, people who love us dearly, but no one who really, truly, completely understands our
souls. IMO, the Grimmauld Place scene where Hermione is able to get Harry to come out from under his
depression draws further attention to this.
Ginny is full of life and generous and truly full of surprises, but Harry needs someone who will connect with his
soul. Right now, as I said in my prior post, she is simply too normal to deal with Harry's unnatural depth, and
as she grows, we will, I think, see her apply the Weasley code of honour much like Fred and George--to aid a
friend in need is essential but to delve into another's soul is an invasion of privacy.
Whats wrong with essays? I dont see a problem with them at all. Ive never written, but i always admire the people who take the time and put the thought into them that they do to make such good ones. If you have something to say an essay is a good way to get your point across. For me the essays that Hermione7 either posts or writes are always fantastic. I can't get enough of them.
