Celestial, you've got it ALL backwards. Ron and Hermione and tons of chemistry, true, but Harry and Hermione have no chemistry at all, not even hidden. THEY'RE relationship is the obvious, in your face, what you see is what you get. As for Ron and Hermione, all that tension and awkwardness is there, just like it's supposed to be.
About JKR and the movies, I don't think she likes the movies at all. She hasn't really said anything about them! If Alfonso went and did something like Draco/Hermione, I'm sure she'd step in, but for the most part she trusts the directors. Cuz Chris Columbus knew what he was doing, with the awkard handshake.
