That's what I said Dogg49er! I'm glad someone agrees with me! So many people here think it's going to be Ron and Hermione because of the reason that it seems "obvious". Like I said before (refer to my earlier posts), J.K. Rowling sets things up before they happen, sometimes chapters before it happens or sometimes even entire books before it happens! J.K. Rowling sets things up by dropping hidden clues plus one 'fake' clue. Like in OotP, she drops a fake clue when Harry has a dream about Sirius being attacked. J.K. Rowling makes it look like Ron and Hermione are close, but she has scattered hidden clues in all the books about Harry and Hermione! You just have to look very closely for them.

Why do we ship Ron & Hermione? Isn't it obvious? Duh. But let me count the ways...
If you were Ron --
1. Would you simply hurl slugs for any other girl?
2. Would you spring up on your feet every time a git like Malfoy comes to annoy Hermione?
3. Would you tell off a teacher just because he called your friend a know-it-all and risk detention for it?
4. Would you get jealous of a school girl's crush on her teacher (Lockhart)?
5. Would you hate the very person you've admired for so long (Krum) just because they paid attention to your friend?
If you were Hermione --
1. Would you always worry as much about your friend getting in trouble?
2. Would you buy a cat that resembles the hair color of your 'friend'?
3. Would you be flattered if your friend commented on how you slapped a student & told off a teacher?
4. Would you be concerned what your friend would think if he heard people call you a 'scarlet woman'?
5. Would you basically tell your so-called friend to ask you first next time there's a ball?
6. Would you get annoyed at a very pretty girl (Fleur), especially if she pays extra attention to your friend?

id love ron and hermy 2get together, but i think its too obvious..... i mean jk likes to keep us guessing... there are loads of little moments and stuff between her and hary, but i dont think that will happen either...
having said that. i think that if JK were going to pair any of them up, it will be hermy and ron, and harry and ginny 😄 they'd be so cute 😛

Besides, look at the interview and you notice the following things: (1 When the reporter asks if Harry and Hermione date, J.K. Rowling says "No, they're very platonic friends. But I won't answer for anyone else", followed by nudges and winks. She is refering to book number 5. She is saying that Harry and Hermione will not date each other, but that Harry will date SOMEONE in book 5. Harry and Hermione did not date in that particualar book. Harry does date someone in the book. That person was Cho. (2 When the reporter asks wether or not anything was happening between Hermione and Ron in the last half of the Goblet Of Fire. J.K. Rowling, plus the facts given by Joy2dWorld, we draw that there is a closeness between Ron and Hermione. I totally agree that there is a closeness. But it's not the type of closeness between lovers, it's more of the type between a close sister and brother.

that's true, there's a lot of reading between the lines in the series-- like JK's anti-racism & anti-genocide stand which are hidden/figuratively presented by her within the pages...
listen, I think its just fine for Harry and Hermione to be together, I like that pairing too! in fact, i wish it would happen. but somehow, the facts are against it. with only 2 books left, i think there wont be enuf time for them to get together, even if Ron dies-- the pain of his death would be too much for Hermione to easily turn to Harry (this kind of character is Cho's, and Hermione is very much unlike Cho who may have unconsciously used Harry to get over Cedric).
besides, i would think JK Rowling would like Ron's character to get something good going in his life. he's always 2nd fiddle to Harry. I'd say she'd give Ron the joy of winning Hermione's love (awww).
also, i'm beginning to believe that the stage is set for a Harry-Ginny team up. when JK said there's something small & insignificant in book 2 that will play a big role in 6, I'm suspecting its Ginny coz she's getting bigger in every book. but there's also Luna who is suddenly introduced in a major role in 5-- but this could also mean that its not impossible for another new character to emerge as Harry's love interest.
