USH'S GAME EPISODE V- 'MAUSOLEUM'- LIGHT SIDE AREA

Started by Gundark89 pages

Kellan studied the hilt of her sabre she held in one hand. Her gaze moved to the dead Zeitonian and then across the view of the burning city before them. She listened to her companions thoughts as they were expressed, without interruption. Without taking her eyes from the carnage in front of them, she spoke. "The Force, here, manifested in an entire race cannot be. The Light against the Dark, as only the Force is, will destroy these people." She swept the arm holding her weapon across the endless cavern. "They are younger than the youngest of Padawans, babes even, with only the rawness of the Force. Nothing more." Kellan turned to face her group. "They have no control, their emotions are the only thing that governs their use of the Force, and you know where that leads." She shook her head sadly. "These people are doomed to a unavoidable destiny."

Agreed. 😄

So I assume persuading them to switch to light will take a LOT of talking. 🙁 And attackig them will take A LOT of killing.

Gundark has the important starting point

What both sides have assumed so far- that this race is blessed with great power- is a fallacy. Certainly from a Light Side point of view (Kuylen, as the Sith in the past, sees it differently). These people are not blessed. They are cursed. A race who in its entirity can use the Force- that is a disaaster. The Force spreads itself carefulyl throughout the Galaxy. Its rarity in being able to be channelled and controlled is essential. That so few people can use it, in a teeming Galaxy, is a great boon- for the Force is extremely dangerous!

Yet here we have a planet where there are more Forcer users here alone then there have been in the last thousand years of the Republic at least. For a start. that is incredibily dangerous. As you can see, it's a sink for the Dark Side- Kuylen raised an army in no time at all. These people are Orphans, they have received no training or guidance in control. There has been no-one to teach them.

Yet... a morass of the Dark Side is NOT what you see before you. You see the inevitable consequence of a race cursed with the Force like this. Destruction.

Dark fights Light. It is in the very nature of these people to destroy each other. In a perfect Galaxy there would be no Dark Side- but there IS. And it wis present here as mach as the Light and it is their doom- not because these people will become all Dark Siders, but because they will fight until none are left alive. You are witnessing the start of a confrontation between the two Sides of the planet that will annihilate it.

But... that makes no sense. This should have happened millennia ago, more. These people should never have even evolved at all, let alone created a culture with weapons and technology beyond that of the Republic. HOW have these people suyrvived so long?

There is only one way in which they can....

Erm......😬

Coud t be that these force powers only came about in recent yers due to an influence of some sort?

These people seem sure it is a natural ability of their race so presumably it has been there for recorded history- more than long enough for these people to wipe themselves out

Maybe they HAD it but a lot of them did not KNOW about it. Possible?

Ahhhhhhhhhh!

Now, that helps. Yes, there is only one way in which these people could have these powers and yet not divide and destroy themselves.

And that is if they had no knowledge of the Force.

But how is that possible? Knowledge of the Force is innate, the midi-chlorians tell you of it. How did their society achieve this?

Well, they may have been taught to ignore it, in the belief that it was evil. Maybe theit society shunned it.

Like, only a handfull knew about it, and they did everuthing they could to keep it a secret. And their religion forbids anything like the force in the belief that it may be a for of witchcraft.

Kosta, do you remember what you were sentenced to death for?

We were sentenced for heresy.

BINGO!

Kosta's hypothesis confirmed. You were done for Heresy- more sophisticated than Witchcraft but the same principle.

So... wha does this mean?

It means there can be no diplomatic solution to this. Our participating in their war is useless.

true we can not help these, people, we should get out of here as fast as we can

It actually means a little more than that, though that comment is entirely accurate.

This planet was only kept in existence because of very, VERY strict laws, enforced by the Elder, to remove all knowledge of the Force from his people. Only this activity kept this planet alive. True stories of the Jedi and the Sith and life inside the Galaxy were forcibily turned into myths. Only this could possibly keep knowledge of the Force from the people.

Until, of course, a bunch of people arrived and messed that up. As soon as these people learned of the Force... the game was up. The instincts that all of them knew- as Jeren'Toc told you, he instinctively KNEW you were right- were unleashed, and this war started.

Gundark, you slump to the ground. You can feel, every few seconds around you, another death. In this war you have started. And you realise now what you are kicking yourself for not realising earlier.

"The Force is one of those things you should not speak of," said the Elder. It does not exist. Not for these people. To hear it will be death for them." He TOLD you. He told you what would happen!"

"You will oblige me by not spreading any more poison in the minds of my Council Members... I mean poison as in it is lethal and you have filled him with it."

The poison... is YOU. Everything you were telling Jeren'Toc was further dooming his people. The Elder was trying to stop you!

"Your words are heresy, and your punishment will be death. You will make my life far simpler by not talking any of the things you tried to talk of to me or your captor. If you do, I will also have to execute all those that hear you and I would rather not do that."

He HAD to kill you! It was the only way he could stop this from happening!

You all thought he had the wrong idea about who you were, and what Jedi did. But he knew!

"I know exactly what and who you are and what your nature is... I also understand what you represent to this world. Which is the destruction of everyone in it. So do not think there is anything you can do to deflect me from this course."

Gundark... how many people have you had to kill for the Greater Good in your career? You carry a Lightsabre- an acknolwedgement that sometimes in your work you must kill in your defence- or the defence of others!. The population of a planet- how far would you go to protect it? Your planet? Your people? Gundark- the Elder is a Light Sider, protecting his people as much as you protect the Republic. He knows who and what you are. But...

"That makes precious little difference to the reality of the situation... regardless of why you came- you should not have done so. That mistake means your deaths... why shouldn't the Force harm the innocent? That is all some people use it for. Please, your attempts to convince me otherwise are futile. I must kill you before you kill my people. There is simply no other way"

He was saying yes, you are Jedi, the good guys- so what? You will still kill my people if I do not kill you first.

"I knew what I would have to do before you came, when I sensed you would, and I am just as certain now"

He spoke with certainity not out of arrogance- but because he foresaw it! And it was not just you he was not ignorant about. You thought he did not know the threat he faced. Of course he knew!

"You do not need to tell me how much of a threat the Sith are... or how many of my people will be slaughtered trying to excise them. But excise them we shall, as we shall excise you, before it is too late."

He could control it if it was just Kuylen. He ordered his people not to fight. He staged the show trial of you to ridicule the word Kuylen- and you- were spreading. He might just have stopped it- with the slaughter of many trying to stop Kuylen, but he might just.

If only he had been able to kill you.

Gundark, you can see it all now. The Jedi arrive here in the midst of the Sith War. An entire people who can use the Force! How wondrous! What marvellious allies they would make! If they could be properly trained and taught- as the Jedi could do- what a great thing it would be! And how willing would the Zeitonians have been to listen!

But then the Sith came, bringing the other side of things. To fight for the resource of a planet of several billion force users? What lengths would the Sith NOT go to for that? Look at this world! Look at the surface! Just how BIG was the war here?

And how long before the Jedi, seeing the division of the Zeitonians then as now, realised the same thing as you. That all they could bring these people was death. And so what did the Jedi do?

"And now we are paying again for your broken promise."

Paying again- what they paid before is on the surface. But the promise? The Promise of the Jedi?

"The promise was made and recorded in perpetuity. But as ever, the Jedi fail us. And now WE pay the price."

It can only have been one thing.

No Jedi will ever again set foot on Zeiton

Gundark... what have you done?

"You should stop your pursuit of Kuylen," said Grevor, on Malastare, what seems a lifetime ago. "I sense nothing good can come of it.". So did the Council- reinstating your pursuot only when politics made it impossible for them to refuse.

And the Astrolabes!

"I shall tell you what you need to know on once condition," said Ascar. "That you still want to go after what I am about to tell you... those Astrolabes were in perfect working order when the Jedi found them. They were disabled, on the orders of the Jedi Council."

Gundark- it wasn't the Mausoleum. it was the PLANET! The Jedi must have known! They KNEW where the Mausoleum was! They knew that any Jedi trying to find it would go to Zeiton and that must NEVER be allowed! They knew that the very existence of Zeiton must be struck from all memoery. Because they knew there was only once chance of justice for Zeiton- for its people to be left in peace, the Elders ensuring that knowledge of the Force never returned here.

Damn it... Demnos... Demnos KNEW. THAT is why the Mausoleum is here! He built it here not because it was hidden from the Jedi. But because he knew this was the one place in the Galaxy that the Jedi would never ever go to!

The Mausoleum was never not found. The Jedi could just never go to it. For to do so would be risking genocide, which the Jedi would never do. The Cult of Demnos, up until the end of the Sith, operated with impunity.

In the millennia since all this happened... it has all been forgotten. Like Zeiton and the Zeitonians. Until now. Until you followd Kuylen here.

WHY didn't the Council stop you, Gundark? Surely THEY knew?

(of course, players may wan to remember this thread at this point...)

(True all true, nice plot Ush Pretty damn great, but isn't the greater good- faith of the universe worth more than one planet?)

The Sith were defeated, Fire. If the Jedi had thought that Demnos might have conquered the Galaxy then yes, they may have been forced to act. Luckily it never became necessary.

Kellan, now on her knees, was stunned by her realization nearly to the point of tears. These events, set in motion by her own hand, her determination to stay the course, despite the warnings by Grevor and Ascar, Lance's suicide, the injuries to herself and her companions along the way and the bounty on her own head, were now rapidly becoming History. And History was writing itself in blood. The blood of a promise made by the order of the Jedi she was bound to. The promise she had now broken by seeing her assigned mission to its fruition. But she could not fault the Supreme Chancellor; the man was innocent of any crime and she had done her duty as he had requested. She had no one to blame but herself for her lack of vision. Worst of all, she had failed Qui-Gon and tainted her memory of him. Crushed, her strength and determination left her; her core was cold and empty.

"And now it has begun," said the Elder, when he saw the dead guards in front of you. He knew what had happened- that his own Counciller had fallen to the Dark and divided against Light. He knew it was too late then.

"Two dead... how many more..."

The dead body lays resolutely in front of you. But someone is approaching.

It is one of the Elder's guards who arrested Jeren'Toc in the first place. You look up.

"The Elder will see you now," he says, simply.

Kellan couldn't speak, at first. Dragging herself to her feet, she found her voice and croaked, "show us the way."
