Well then lets say Roan and I are doing the 'sneak up to the turret opening' shuffle (albeit VERY quickly) and do something to get the gunner to stick his head out....like making a small odd noise perhaps ? Then I hit him over the head with my sabre hilt and push him back inwards and clamber inside myself, finish dispatching him and then man the gun myself in order to help Xeth and Marcus.....

There is no chance the gunner will stick his head out- he would simply rotate the gun barrel towards the noise.

Gundy How bout you push the gunner away from the gun, the I at almost the same time, jump in and wack him really hard with my saber-hilt
