You' re a volunteer from the audience at a magic show. The magician’ s assistant hands you a deck of cards and asks you to shuffle them thoroughly, then show them one by one to the assistant and the audience. As you do so, the magician - who is blindfolded and has his back to the audience - correctly identifies each card in the deck.
Some of the audience members assume you must be an accomplice who only pretended to shuffle the cards, but you know they are wrong. There are no wires or radio signals involved. Nobody can work out how the trick is done. In fact, this is one the most mystifying tricks in conjuring.
Months later, you see the magician’ s assistant on the street - and although you say not a word to each other, you suddenly know how the trick was done.
