She sighed and took his hand. "You've changed so much. I miss the old Jak." She hugged him and kissed his cheek. "My Jak." She sighed and looked down at the city. "You'll get use to it, learn to live with it. The thirst will never end. I'm sorry I put you through this... I shouldn't have blooded you."
She laughed and shook her head. “No you just don’t seem as happy as you were before you left. But I guess that’s partly my fault for blooding you.” She took his hand in hers, realized it was her mechanical arm, and switched hands so he wouldn’t have to hang on to the cold metal. “A lot has happened since you left.”
He stared intently into her blood eyes, waiting for her to say her piece, but, feeling she had nothing to say, simply turned back to the city. "You remember, 'dont' you." He removed a small, heart shapped, pendant and locket. He handed it to her. The gold glistened as he poured the chain onto her metal hands palm. Feeling as cold inside as he was assured the bio-mechanical limb was. "Merry christmas Kiki." He whispered.
'A piece of me.' His voice echoed through her mind. He was gone again. Obviously not it the mood for intimasy.

Back at the tower, 'Lamez slept in his cot in the adjoining room to his office. An alarm clock ticked beside him. Vrix's blood still stained his white surgery vest, 'Lamez not changing before he fell asleep.
Vrix remained oblivious.
Zike continued to question himself, as, another day passed.
She frowned and appeared back in the room beside Vrix. She quietly sat in the bed, looking down at the golden locket. Finally she reached down and opened it, careful that her movements wouldn't wake Vrix. She sighed and thought to herself as she opened the locket. "Zike... Why do you always have to run?"
