USH'S GAME EPISODE I- "AVALAR"- Light Side (Lance Windu, Gundark, Phinney)

Hmm. Not enemy fighters may be overstating it, but they aren't pirate ships. Two small ships and one corvette, just clearing the launch area.

Not to interrupt people's grieving, but I had better remind you that I need an escape plan.

It doesn't have to be anything clever. It can just be 'put full power to engines and go THAT way!' if you want; just so long as I know what you are going to do!

"Master Gundark what do you want to do? We are running out of time here." Lance exclaims."If you need me to do anything just let me know.

Gundark took the only gamble they could. "Lance, use that navicomputer back there at that console you're sitting at and plot us a course directly toward the largest ship they've got in the blockade," she instructed him. "Their largest will be also be the slowest to manuever. Let them think we're making a suicide run." Her hands flew over the controls. "Yerssot, as soon as he gives you the coordinates, hit full thrusters."

"Hmmm; ... I have the thrusters?"
But when he saw Lance giving him a look he smiled, indicating that he was only joking.

"Yes, master Gundark."

"Heading 210 mark 37" Lance tells them.
(I don't know how to write out coordinates, so this is the best I can do)

As soon as Yerssot got the coordinates he turned the ship to 210 mark 37 and he hit the thrusters...

(Just a quick note as to how those direction co-ordinates work...

The first number is, in degrees, the direction in which you turn the ship. Then you clearly say 'mark' to seperate the two numbers. Then the second number, also in degrees, is which way you point the ship up or down.

Hence with two numbers you can have the ship facing any direction.)

Yerss, you have a better reading on the three ship coming up fast from below.

One is a fast, sleek fighter, mainly in black and chrome.

One is a slightly larger fighter, VERY heavily armed. It is the fighter that buzzed you Jedi earlier while you were on the volcano, that shot down some of the pirate fighters.

The third is rather more strange. It is a converted Hutt corvette; not actually a warship but a well-armed vessel the Hutts tend to use for heavy duty smuggling operations; long and solid and with many turrets. It also looks slightly worn and has many laser blasts over it, though the damage is long since repaired.

The three ships also appear to be rising in an attempt to challenge the blockade.

Meanwhile, the largest pirate ship you can see is a captured Damagran cruiser; not huge but large enough to be scary. You doubt whether the pirates could fully crew it but you can be sure all the laser turrets and defence systems are in good working order.

Difficult to gauge the reaction, yet, of the slow moving cruiser, but a dozen fighters are already moving in to give you a hard time...

"Master Gundark, enemy incoming! Closest is one tick 52."
Yerssot yelled towards Gundark who was almost on the other side of the ship.
He highered the power of the weapons a bit.
"Friend Lance, is there an 'entire particle shielding' here, or a cloaking?
And when can we make the jump to hyperspace?"

"I'm sorry my friend. We only have frontal shields on this ship. But some good news if you will tell me where we are going to, we can put it into the navicomputer. The ship should hold together long enough to let us make the jump."

"Let us make a jump far enough for them not hitting us, less time for the computer to calculate and after that we can decided, my friend...
Ow, and now *Yerssot pushed a button* we can redirect the shielding energy to the entire ship"
A big grin graised his face when he said that last one.

"To ... well... behind the blockade Friend Lance! Behind the blockade!"

At the weapons control, Gundark kept up a constant barrage of laser fire at the swarm of fighters. She managed to destroy two of them and missed a third. "How soon til we reach the blockade ?" she yelled to yerssot.

"We come in contact in 2.1 tick! Making it in approx 4 seconds. If we maneuvre in close, they perhaps can't shoot, because of the risk of shooting their own ship down"

"Yes, it will make them cautious. Because if they hit their own people you know somebody will get in trouble with their supervisors!" Lance exclaimed. "I believe we can do this Master Gundark."

Cloaking on a ship this size, Yerss? Still a Sith wannabe...

You can't jump, of course, until you have cleared the gravity well of the planet, which is significantly behind the blockade.

Just so I know... if Gundy is now on weapons, who is piloting?

Anyway...

The ship you just shot down, Gundy, spins away as its oxygen bursts into one brief flame before dying. But the others make fast, swooping attacks, which give neither party much time to make aimed shots. You can barely hit them and while they can barely hit you either, the scattered shots they are making are chipping away at your shields FAR faster than they are repleneshing.

Suddenly, the two unidentified fighters behind you make a sudden break and charge into your sector of the fighting. The smaller, sleeker one hangs behind the larger, well-armed one. The well-armed one seems to be making an attack run on the cruiser!

Another 12 pirate fighters that were heading for YOUR ship move towards these intruders instead. You watch, curiously, as they seem to let he pirate fighters come in behind them without objection. Then suddenly your sensors are overwhelmed as both fighters break violently. The larger one lets out a swarm of mini-warhead flares (more designed to knock pursuers out the way than damage them) and little decoy droids.

Yerss, no-one has a hope in hell of accurate targetting in that mess of a melee. Everyone is flying on 'visual scanning' only.

It appears the two intruders have the better skill. The larger one slips in behind three pirate fighters and destroys them beofre they realise what is happening. The sleek one gives a lesson in evasive manoeuvres to the pirates, slipping easily between the debris ans the pirates smash into the debris, flares, droids and even each other. The sleek ship then performs a brisk roll to shoot down another fighter and suddenly only four of their pursuers are left.

The larger ship resumes its attack run whilst the smaller one swoops around guarding it;s back.

The Hutt Corvette- more sluggish than you guys but FAR more well armed- is now entering this sector of the atmosphere as well.

"Master, keep shooting!
I'm going to spin this ship, that's a good trick!"

While he did that, he saw that master Gundark shot down one ship that was at a very long distance of them, like the others.

The distance between them and the big cruiser became shorter and shorter

(Just a note- Gundy won't hit anything while you are spinning)

("keep shooting" like in: that way they won't get in at full speed and we will be able to run a bit farther)

No, really- while spinning Gundy can't even see where she is pointing.

"I don't want to waste firepower laying out a cover, yerssot....just keep us on course," Gundark told him.

In the confusion, you hadn't even noticed the proton torpedoes. You only know of their existence when you seem them explode against the cruiser- a volley of thre of them, fired by the heavy fighter.

Another salvo of three is heading towards exactly the same point on the pirate cruiser, just fired by the same fighter.

After the salvo has fired, the two other fighters turn around and fly over to the incoming corvette, and start to help it clear the fighters attacking it.

Meanwhile, you guys are now within the firing range of the guns on the cruiser... and their salvo is now starting. There are more guns on that thing than you can count- mostly small turrets that you need not worry about, but at least 8 heavier guns which are the ones pouding at you now.
