this is totally from memory:
Oracle: The Merovingian warned me that if i made a certain choice, it would cost me.
Niobe: What choice was that?
Oracle: The same choice you will have to make. To help Neo or not.
what did she do? she talked to neo, and sent him to mero..
she didnt really tell him much
Morpheus: Yes, we are here to speak with the Merovingian.
Maitre'd: Of course, he has been expecting you. Follow me.
Merovingian: Aha, here he is at last. Neo, the One himself, right?..
Burlyman> What did the Oracle do as far as helping Neo? Good question. She tells Ghost that she lost her old shell because of (presumably) Rama and wife, THEN she tells Niobe that the Mero is after her because she, The Oracle, chose to help Neo.
I think that’s one of the answers we’ll have to wait for Revolutions to get. Unless we go back to the candy thing. Or it’s sneakier than that.
In M1 the Oracle doesn’t tell Neo “Well, you’re the One, whether you want to or not, so go die, kiddo, and get down to business.” She’s (presumably) an intuitive psychic program, so she knows that Neo doesn’t “believe in this fate crap.” So she goads him on. Tells him it’s Morphs or his own life. And bingo! The One is “born.”
In Reloaded she almost makes Neo believe that Trinity will die. That he’s already made the choice that she’ll die (watch the scene again on DVD, she’s quite sneaky). Why? Is she manipulating Neo’s “affinity for disobedience” so he’ll try to break the rules again. Choosing the left door and breaking the cycle?
HUMANITY MUST CHOOSE TO BE FREE, IT CANNOT BE FREED BY ANYONE...you miss the point, every human must make the decision for themselves whether or not they accept the matrix or not...so, the only thing they CAN do is let the elders live out thier lives in the matrix, and just free the kids, until there is nobody left...
Isn't that one of characteristics of being a mother? Loving your children so much that you would die for them?

Yes, they must choose - on an individual basis. But, that doesn't mean you cannot help them. Let them see what they are truly living like. Some may see the pods and wires and want to get out. Others may want to plug back in.
They can free the elders. Age is not a requirement. Yes, it is harder for older people to deal with something like that. Adjusting is not easy, but not impossible.
Neo almost went crazy when he got out, and he contained the ONE code...Morpheus himself said that they dont free a mind once it reaches a certain age, the mind has trouble letting go, its dangerous...it would take much proof to convince the old ones, and they would probably rather shoot themsleves than believe their entire life is a lie...
