he doesnt have to see the attack coming, spidey's spider-sense is like a 6th-sense, you dont have to see someone following you to know someones following you
If what you say is true, how do you explain all the times he has been hit. And I am not counting the traps set by villains who knows how his spider sense work.
And Cosmic, I don't remember Batman beating Carnage, but you have to remember the writers rarely know much about the villains, and of course they're going to have the hero beat the villain, that's what comics do. However, Spider-Man wouldn't win on sheer strength alone, but with strength combined with agility and his spider-sense. Spider-Man's spider-sense does anticipate Batman's moves. It doesn't mean he knows every move Batman makes before Batman does, but Spidey has been fighting long enough to know where certain blows will come from. In a hand-to-hand fight, Batman is not likely to even touch Spider-Man. Special 'bat-suits' and 'web-dissolving materials' are cop-outs for the writers. Spider-Man has been known to use 'spider-suits' and special webbing if he has to, but this is just a fight. Anyone can beat anyone with special techs.
The thing is it is not whether the writer knows the hero or the villain but how they finish things. Come now, we do not want Hawkeye putting down King thor with one arrow to the head... do we?
Spiderman's spider sense does not anticipate any bodies moves, while he is looking at them. His spider sense kicks in when he does not know that he is in trouble. That is he looking for batman and batman suddenly appears behind him. This is when the spider sense kicks in, warning him of imminent danger.
And spiderman has to see where the attack is coming from because if his MO was to start jumping when ever his spider sense goes off, he would become more predictable when fighting his more smarter villains, IE Doc Octopus, Mysterio, King pin, Kraven etc. And As peter it would make things even worse. He would run a risk of revealing his true identity to Aunt May(and you know how Aunt May does not like Spiderman) and others every time his spider sense goes off.
Why do you guys think, he tries to control himself when ever his spider sense goes off. Because if he gives in to that instinct his life as we know is going to change for the worse.
Knightfall, grow up. You're the one acting like a kid here, not anyone else.
life, Spider-Man has often been hit because most of the time he is in the middle of twisting in the air when a blow comes. Many, many, many times he has stated in his thought bubbles 'spider-sense tingling, I'm about to get hit but I can't twist out of the way in time!' and thus he's hit. He still always knows what's coming, unless it's Venom, Carnage, or one of the Goblins knocking out his spider sense. Don't argue with me on the spider sense, I have been reading Spider-Man for more than a decade and I know how his sense works. It most certainly will activate even if he knows who he's fighting. It always goes off, period. It doesn't kick in only in an ambush, it most certainly does anticipate someone's moves.

No way. Spidey is younger and full of fresher ideas. His strength is ten times that of a normal human as well. Plus he has a spider sense. Batman is cool and I am a Batman fan, but, Batman is a preppie. Spidey is straight up normal joe.
Spidey is probably more than 100 times stronger than the normal human. With the senses and speed along with the webbing, he would appear to be able to overwhelm Bats, but Bat's performances in books goes way beyond his physical stats.

23 people thought Batman would win? That's disheartening, even for 2004.

Batman should win... seriously. That's not really a bad reflection upon Spidey, it's just an acknowledgment that Bat's gear, skill, and tactical mind should give him the edge over someone who holds back against human level characters as much as Pete does. Now if Spidey didn't care if he hit Batman hard enough to decapitate him it would be a completely different story.
If Batman had time to prepare sure, but if he just randomly came across Spider-Man he'd lose.
