Best Rock/Punk

Is it trendy now to say "RIP Kurt"? I know he is considered a God by many people, and he is an inspiration for many of the bands around today, but the man is dead. And while I believe he was murdered, and that the case should be reopened, I think it's time to let it go. In fact, I also think it's trendy now to like Nirvana. My girlfriend gerw up with Nirvana, and she loves Kurt as much as anybody, and she was completely devastated when she found out what happened, but even she has let go. Why can't anyone else? I'm not saying you can't like them...I'm just saying that you don't have to say "RIP, Kurt" everytime somebody mentions Nirvava. Another thing that I hate is how most Nirvava "fans" haven't even heard Bleach, Incesticide, or In Utero. They are ALL better than Nevermind, but yet everyone still says Nevermind is their best album. Kurt didn't even like Nevermind!

No, I haven't seen the video for "Silver and Cold" yet. But I really want to.

It's also trendy to like Sublime, which bothers the hell out of me as well.

Excuse me, but I am a fan of Nirvana, and I've heard all thier albums, but I have never ONCE said, RIP, Kurt...That's just sad.

yeah thats what i meant. and im glad to see someone else agrees that In Utero was better than Nevermind. Bleach is just as good as Nevermind, but Incesticide aint brilliant.

true. But they're all good. In Utero is the best.

I'm not sure if it's possible to name "The best rock band of all time". Lets try for "The most influential rock band of all time". My vote goes to The Beatles.

Hahahahahahahahahahaha

Maybe you are only talking to teenage kids.......you know, the kids who didn't grow up with Nirvana, only discovered them later after Kurt was dead. MOST Nirvana fans are between the ages of 25-35 and were HUGE fans of the group. We knew everything there was to know......we awaited the release of Incesticide.......we did our damndest to get ahold of old Nirvana Sub Pop singles.......we were on our chairs waiting for In Utero to come out........we paid huge sums of money to get Hormoaning when it was released in Australia (because it wasn't released here in the U.S.)..........

Your comment was just assinine to say the least. Most Nirvana fans don't know any albums but Nevermind? That is just ludicrous. We know them all........we knew them all before they were released as we would scour the earth for any news on upcoming singles/album releases.

For the record.....I think Nevermind is better than In Utero, Incesticide and Wishkah. Only Bleach and Unplugged are better.

I'm sorry but that is the stupidest thing I've ever read......seriously. Yeah.....all of us fans who packed in to their shows (my first concert was Nirvana) didn't even know their albums.......how dumb. Seriously man.....that was a retarded statement.

I don't think it was retarted. Maybe he was talking about the people that he goes to school with. I go to school with him, and I know that 99% of the people who wear Nirvana crap don't know shit about the band. True, it was dumb to say "Most Nirvana fans," but he was just referring to the ones who are younger who say they love Nirvana. My girlfriend is 23, and she grew up on Nirvana, so I know what you mean you say that most of the people are between 25-35.
I think Bleach is their best album.

He didn't say "most kids who wern't around for Nirvana and are just now learning about them"......he said Nirvana "fans". That is what was retarded.

I figured he was talking about high school kids.....which is why I put that first sentence in my post. My point was that he was classifying these kids along side the people who were listening to Nirvana 15-10 years ago.

I have no clue to the authenticity of this as I have not been in high school for many a year........but he says it is now trendy to like Nirvana and Sublime. Hey.........who would have thought it. After ten years I guess I'm finally cool..........because it sure wasn't trendy at the time to like Nirvana and nobody had even heard of Sublime until their Sublime album came out. If somebody saw me wearing a Robbin' the Hood shirt they didn't know what it meant. They didn't know who or what a Sublime was. Great to know that teenage kids would finally consider me cool..........I kind of get a kick out of that.

I thought the cool trendy thing with teenagers today was rap and trying to act like rappers? I see kids all the time wearing their pants off their ass and speaking the worst manner of English ("yo dog, how you be doin' today playa"😉....you know, pretending they are Jay Z or some other rapper. I see this every day. I thought this was the trendy thing now.........I havn't seen a Nirvana t-shirt on a teenager in a good five years (granted I don't see hundreds/thousands of teenagers per day like you guys do)......I do however see 99% of kids walking around tripping over the crotch of their pants that is hanging between their knees.

Speaking of Nirvana fans, allow me to provoke envy with this little piece of Nirvana memorabilia I gots hanging up in my hallway.

It's a promotional clear vinyl copy of "In Utero", which I had signed by Dave at a Foo Fighters acosutic set in Richfield, MN in 2000. It came from my girlfriends cousin, who worked at Tower Records, IN SEATTLE mind you.

She herself has pretty much all their vinyl pressings, an "In Utero" tour used roadie shirt, the singles boxed set, the Kurt diary book, and whatever else she could have got her hands on during the "era". We unfortunately sold our copy of "Hormoaning" when we were strapped for cash, but luckily still have a few of the original Blue Moon Outcesticide CDs.

...i hate you
