Now that I have a DVD player, I can get the "Simpsons First Complete Season" on DVD. Nice, huh?

Birthdays are great! The Simpsons first season is not.

It dated badly. The great thing was, though, is that they even dared to mock themselves later on, Like in a latrer episode where Bart tries to do the 'Bart man' dance and everyone looks at him as if he is a sad bastard.

It's almost as bad as the past few seasons! I dont even watch anymore, they are really horrible!!!!!! Not funny at all! I think The Simpsons needs to throw in the towel and just end it's historic run! The reruns are classics, compared to these new episodes really suck ass!!!! 🙁

Now you see, we have a difference of opinion right there.

I for one, think the first season was one of the best. And as far as the past few, I don't think they've been any worse than the 6th or 7th seasons.

The humor has changed so much in the entire run. I do think the end is very near. (I've thought so the past few seasons). But there are still very funny episodes still being made.

And even the episodes that arn't funny. They always have a happy ending. The Simpson family, no matter what it had gone through in that episode, ends up a family in the end. I think it's the greatest family show ever made. Maybe not the funniest, but the togetherness they present in the show, makes me know I can always work out problems with my loved ones. (Wow, dude. I got real deep here 😎 )

If I want to watch a happy bullshit family show I'll watch 7th Heaven. Simpsons are comedy and for the past 2 years, it's been unfunny! It needs to go off the air, it's really pitiful!!! It's all bathroom jokes and Homer acting like a dumbass!!!! PITIFUL!!!!!!!

Homer gets stupider every year, no question there, but I think it makes him funnier every year. I don't think society should eliminate the Simpsons. They are the last family show that still stands for something good.

I find extreme comfort watching the show. I've known these characters for over ten years. When it gets canceled, a part of me will die.

There used to be substance behind Homers stupidity, now it's just, "let's have Homer cut his hand on the Jute Box and bleed profusouly till he passes out", it's dumb! I love the old classic simpsons, the reruns that come on are soo good and you laugh every other minute, these new episodes are horrid! They dont even get any sympathy laughs from me.

Futurama, now that's a funny show!!

It's like that old comedian that everyone loves but he messes up all the jokes and no one has the guts to tell him to retire!!!

I think the Simpsons have matured over the years with their audience. That's why they've remained so popular.

There is a reason they've stayed on the air for so long, and it's because they've dared to become a different show every season. I think it's brilliant.

I've bought the complete first season- collection DVD box with 3 DVD's now, and it's gooooooooooooooood.

it's good alright. problem is I have to watch it at a friends, cause I only have a DVD-rom. but I know I'll get a DVD-player for my birthday, looking forward to it! 🙂

Isn't there an option where Matt Groening has commentary during the episodes? I need to check that out. I havn't really messed with it too much, yet.

me neither . 🙁 point is, I'm really not supposed to get it before my birthday, from my friend. so he gave me the money to buy the DVD, but claimed that he was the one who should keep it until then. I've watched it a bit at his place, but I've not really investigated it.
