I don't get this whole rap thing. I lived in the ghetto for 6 years of my life...when I was a kid as soon you got on your bike you got jumped for that shit. All of this rap I just don't get it do drugs,shoot people,etc....At least
rock has meaning behind it. No dissrespect to rap but thats shit to me and my freinds. And for this "independent hip hop" I never heard of this shit before.

artists such as Sage Francis and Aesop Rock have VERY VERY deep abstract lyrics.

artists such as Illogic, and Aceyalone make music which is very relaxing but with deep lyrics.

Sometimes he has smart lyrics, like on a couple of songs (No Regrets, 9-5ers Anthem, etc)but sometimes.. I just think he's throwing out as many big words as he can, cause it just doesn't make sense. Most of his songs just sound like he muddies his own waters in an attempt to sound deep.

The Many Faces of Oliver Hart by Eyedea has more meaning than what most rock bands can put out right now.

Also since your a Slayer fan, I would recommend you check out a hip hop artist named Necro. I think you'd like him.
