People are taking these drugs ANYWAY! Legalazing them will make them safer, and would you like to know a frightening statistic?from 1994 to 1996 36 people died from cocaine/crack
[b]- 1 person from LSD
-277 from heroin (health wise)
-616 from methadone
-36 cocain/crack
well also think of it this way if we legalize drugs that means like 4 TIMES the people will take them now that it is safe and legal (and i will say it again THINK OF THE CHILDREN)

Answer me this: Would you start doing drugs, just because they’re legal? No? Okay. Then why do you think everyone else would?
and its not as if making them illegal is stopping anyone getting what they want. i scored some weed last night just walking home from the pub.

Having dealt with teenagers that have died from taking drugs such as heroine and various other illicit substances and seen the way it tears families apart I would prefer it if they introduced the death penalty for anyone caught dealing in them!
I repeat...yet again...the effects of pure drugs are nowhere near as dangerous as those of tobacco and alcohol!!!
I have also posted some statistics, and if you go back a page and read them, you'll see.
War on drugs has been going on for almost 100 years now!!! What has changed? Please tell me what has changed? Nothing!! Pepole are still usign them, and dying from the impurities of them.
Billons are spent on war on drugs and NOHING has changed. There should be a different approach to it!
The stuff in italics is my answers to the argument

Form alcohol and tobbaco PER ANNUM are
alcohol - 4, 235
tobbaco - 120, 000The reason more people die from alcohol and tobacco is because technically more people use/abuse them and it's usually over a longer period of time. People who die from other drugs tend to have been using them a comparatively shorter time.
The true physical effects of PURE heroin are none other (apart from the bliss obviously) than a mild constapation.
Pure heroine or morphine as it is known medically supresses the respiratory centre in the brain removing the stimulus to breath hence people stop breathing turn blue then die from hypoxia. Except when the drug has been cut with toxic chemicals its the impurities that keep most people from overdosing in the first place.

That's a bit harsh! Shouldn't we throw them in prison instead? And btw -- the police might decide they don't like a certain person and they might plant false evidence on them...then what happens: they get the death penalty...great...another innocent man killed.

Why dont you have a look where I got those statistics from. I havent made any of that up.
There is something wrong with the system as it is, or people wouldnt be still using them, would they?
Why dont you reflect on prohibition act in america banning alcohol? How many people died from making thier own alcohol? How many died from buying from other people which were, may i add full of shit!!
Yeah, banning it worked really well, didnt it. Also the statistc show that more people died in that period from alcohol then they have when the alcohol was legal!!
El Barto> This discussion won’t go far if you can’t even answer a simple question. I asked you FIRST.
But since you seem to know little of civilised debate:
No, I wouldn’t start doing drugs JUST because I could and wouldn’t get busted. If I wanted to, I know where to go NOW anyways, with little risk to myself. I happen to treasure my health and brain-capacity, and see no need to do any damage to it.
Again:
Four times the people? Where do you get your numbers from?
Aha, so you just made it up??? How credible do you think your arguments seem to be in my eyes right now?
Answer me this: Would you start doing drugs, just because they’re legal?
No? Okay. Then why do you think everyone else would?
And finally: Are you stupid when you’re with others or alone?
Baylin> Have you seen the effect tobacco and alcohol does? Do you want to kill people at the liquor stores? And before you answer, think of Probation in the USA, as Silver Bitchiness points out.
Did people STOP drinking? Did making alcohol illegal give rise to a massive organised crime syndicate, which may not have got so powerful, had alcohol remained legal????
The death penalty in the US isn’t working so well anyways – What about the countless innocents who were fried or poisoned and later turned out to be innocent?
You can’t truly make anything illegal, in the sense that it won’t occur. Outlaw abortions, and you only make them dangerous in back-alleys. Outlaw drugs, and you only make them dangerous, filled with poison, and the root of drug-related crimes.
Murder is illegal. Murder takes place anyways. Stealing is illegal. Things get stolen. Robbery, rape, bribes, black-mail etc. etc. etc.
Please REALISE this fact: Making something illegal will NOT make it “go away” –
