I thought Ledger was superbly convincing as the Joker.
Full credit to him. Really didn't know if Nicholson's could be outshined,
but Nicholson's Joker just looks/acts like Jack Nicholson in white make-up by comparison.
He owned this character on all levels.
That heavy-user-of-thorazine-type tongue snaking and apparent mouth dryness detailing for example.
(Keeping it spoiler-light for those who still haven't seen it.)
And the comedic silently mouthing "six?" at the copper he was winding up before smooooooothly switching tones of darkness when asking if the cop wanted to know which of those six were cowards. Never once felt I was watching a actor playing somebody, just felt I was watching a truly twisted psychotic on screen at all times..
Haven't actually seen his other stuff yet, but if he is as good as his Joker in other movies, then that bodes well for an earned (not just cause of his now posthumous status) legendary actor status imho.
