What to the actors who had a main role in those films have in common along with dying prematurely? They were good. They were young, good actors, chicks loved them, and they went out with a bang with very memorable roles. All of that in addition to the fact that they died young is why they're immortalized. If David Spade died in his 20's, I honestly doubt anyone would care.

If David Spade had done one very good/great role and died right after or only did a few of his typical crap roles after that great and then died, people would probably be saying "oh, the potential we only had a glimpse of but will never get to see."

Having said that, I do think Ledger was a good actor, just not "one of the best", since he didn't do much in his short career. He had rolls like A Knights Tale and Casanova under his belt besides BBM and TDK.

Well I think both of Ledger's performances are on a much higher level than his, personally.

Cuba is/was talented, but he just chose shitty roles. As if he just stopped caring.

An actor who can play two completely different characters, and play them both excellently is a rare thing. Cuba going to shit doesn't change that.

Yes, I'd agreed.

Point was to your "we'll never know", since he died before he could do more roles like Ennis Del Mar and not Sir William Thatcher.

Edit: He does have one more movie coming out though, not sure how big his roll is, since he died mid-way into filming.

That's exactly what I said, with different words.

David Spade's most memorable and peak performance was reaching into his pocket and then giving people the finger. He was entirely dependant on Chris Farley to compliment his role. What proves that, is when Farley died, Spade was relegated to sorry-ass sitcoms.

I've never said that Heath Ledger was one of the greatest, and I don't think that. What I'm saying is that there's a lot more to being immortalized when an actor dies young...to just being young.

Good at acting_

Chick magnet_
Ooze charisma_
Deep and memorable roles_

David Spade possesses none of the above.

Wasn't quoting you with "one of the best", figured you had been following the thread, my error.

You know, Spade has dated some hot women, which is mind-boggling.

Ledger had two excellent roles: Brokeback Mountain and TDK.

I think in time he very likely would have been a great actor, maybe one of the best, but considering that his life was cut short before he was able to hit that mark, we'll never know.

And that's what makes his death all the more tragic. He had tremendous promise, but we'll never see what would have blossumed.

I wouldnt class Brokeback as excellent, it was acceptable, he played the character well, as you would expect from any actor in that role

I honestly believe his two stand out roles were Candy and TDK, the first was good, the second was excellent. But other than that I can't see anything to qualify him as a legend or full of promise... he was just an ok actor in an industry full of piss-poor, pretty actors.

You think Keanu could have done an equal job at Ennis Del Mar?

Totally disagree. I think his role in BBM was his crowning achievement. There was so much to that character beneath the surface, that he communicated not by saying or doing anything, but by the way he looked, he was able to get across this sense of self loathing and quiet frustration without speaking, with just his eyes and body language. That is great acting.

No matter how good people say he was in BBM, I don't think I'll ever watch it. I'll sit down and watch every other movie he's in, but not that one.

Btw, I heard a rumor Ledger was set to play Pennywise in a remake. If the Joker messed his mind up like people said it did, I can only imagine what playing Pennywise would've done to him.

Why wouldn't you watch BBM? He's amazing in that film.

I bet I can guess the reason he won't watch it.

And you'd guess correctly. I have nothing against those type of people, but it just doesn't seem like my cup of tea at all. I do want to see the Brothers Grimm, though. I think that movies gotten a lot of bad reviews, but I want to see it for myself.

The gay stuff in the film really has been overplayed. There is some kissing, but there's nothing particularly graphic.

I wouldn't force anyone to watch a film that they don't think they would like. But if you're a fan of Ledger and if you appreciate brilliant film making and great acting then I suggest you watch it.

As Backfire said, a lot of what happens is heavily suggested and not graphic at all.

I'm curious: Is Ledger's character gay? Again, I'm not downing the film, I just want to know.

Yes or he is bisexual in the film.

Wow, it'll be weird seeing Heath that way in a movie if I decide to watch it. Are there any other movies of his I should check out?

Well, if you really feel like it you can watch 10 things I hate about you, A Knight's Tale and Four Feathers (all not nearly as bad as you would imagine, actually quite alright, sometimes even funny or cool), oh, and you should watch Casanova, which is, in my opinion, way, way, waaaaaaaaaay more fun than it sounds like.

Cool, I'll check them out throughout the week.

Man, Heath had such a promising career. Imagine the roles he probably could've pulled off. I'm not trying to sound like a fanboy, but he really disappeared into the role of the Joker. Believe it or not, I went in excited but a little annoyed by all the hype, and I came out enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would. I've seen it two times because of Heath alone.

Like when he ass****ed Gyllenhall in the tent? How is that not graphic?

Did they actually show him doing him? If so, I'm not watching the movie.
