Angels and Demons by Dan Brown, (the "prequel" to Da Vinci Code although an entirely unrelated story so it doesn't matter if you read them the other way around, as I have done.)
To be honest, probably not as enjoyable as it would have been without having read another of his books, since the basic themes (Lead Character, attractive female assistant, symbols and code breaking, etc) are very similar in both books. However, good escapism...
Halfway through Catch 22, bizarre book - some "chapters"much more enjoyable than others.

Angels & Demons is a completely different story because it's not the sequel. It's the prelude and it is because it has the same main character in it. It's about a story that happens before the da vinci code. You know how in the da vinci code they mention
Spoiler:Obviously you didn't get that. The only reason I read A&D after DVC was because you don't have to read a prelude before the other story when they aren't connected. No offense I'm just pointing out that angles & deomns isn't the sequel, It's the prelude. That's all
Langdon being with vittoria vetra in rome? So he is with vittoria in rome in angles & demons

i deliberately used the word prequel rather than sequel to make the distinction you have made. prelude yes, even better word since, as i said, they are unrelated stories. We are in agreement. However, i stand by the point i made, in that there are certain similarities about each book (code breaking, love interest, searching, etc.) that mean that whichever one you read second will have slightly less impact on you than it may have done had it been first. However, if anything i think angels and demons is the superior book
Memories of my melancholy whores - Gabriel Garcia Marquez... But i think the book's better on spanish or in portuguese... you know "memórias das minhas putas tristes" sounds better than "memories of my melancholy whores". the last one sounds like you are reading some kind of soft book, written by a person who thought that lived too much, but he/she didn't!
