heh, no. Titanic was the only movie to hit 1 billion dollar gross internationally. Fellowship made about 650,000,000 i'm pretty sure. and towers made 750,000,000. No, i highly doubt that it'll become the number one movie ever in the box office.

the thing is at current there will definately b bootleg copies of ROTK which will decrease ticket sales. titanic was brought out in the era where the internet was relatively young.

i hope it reaches da 1 billion mark and surpass titanic, but i sumwhat have doubts.

nah u gotta take in the era when titanic was relesaed - CGI was a big deal then - AND there are more suckers for romance in the world than epics like LOTR😉

the two towers did make 920 mil look! If the rotk makes 1 billion it be 2nd hightest grossing fim ever titanic. I hope it kills finding nemo and harry potter.

I doubt it could reach the 1 Billion mark, as that person said too much copies/pirates about nowadays. Also another good point that romance was a favourate to rake in the $'s/£'s

What about Star wars, even though it was a sci-fi film it is still making money from videos and whatnot, also whatever it was worth back then could be worth alot more....(some old peoples words)

As to ROTK making 1 billion - definately.

I really think that it will reach $1 billion. I know that the internet is broader now, but LOTR has alot of loyal fans. I know personally I will go and see it more than probally 4 times. Plus the added sales of Trilogy Tuesday tickets, which will count in total revenue. I think that it will easily make the money.....

wow, i think it can make 1 billion internationally but it wont catch titanic internationally. i am hopin though that it will get close to titanic in the US. TTT was at 339 mil and titanic 600 mil. thats still 160 mil different but this movie is going to far surpase the other LOTR movies. i know it will break 400 mil, maybe 500 mil, and get close to 600 mil. just my thoughts. i also beleive it will beat matrix revolutions for the best 5 day outing, it will be the fastest to reach 400 million (beating spiderman) but hopefully it doesnt die once it breaks 400 mil like spider man did.

well i hpoe it gets atleast 980 mil so it can kill harry potter 1, it then become the 2nd highest grossing movie so far!! It is going to 100% make 950 mil.

i think it can, its 10 times better then titanic and HP but i also have some doubts, but you never know cuz this generation is all about guns, drugs, sex, violence and what not but lotr rocks!!!!!!!!!

LOTR does have a different public than HP and Titanic. It's only for sixteen years and older, so by that it will make less money too I think. Not that I'm sixteen by the way, but anyway..

Titanic = pure and utter nonsense. It's a bloody love story with the ship coming in last place in the plot. HP = Disgraceful acting (in reference to the 'kids'😉. I cannot comment on the books as I haven't read them and don't really intend to as it's just an amalgamation of different fantasy stories with a child's twist. But, that's my opinion.
