finti: bullocks to you too. the point is spielberg chose to make this movie, and knew that it wasn't a commercial mass-seller, but he wanted to make it partly because he is a jew, and wanted to tell the story of a man who were brave enough to help jews out of the nazi-camps when he himself was former supporter of the nazis and he risked his life.
about the saint, i agree with you finti, i'm not a christian either so it doesn't mean anything to me.
If you read my original post, I just wanted to know everyone's favorites. Not what they thought the ten best films ever made were.

Well, I sure as heck don't feel that anyone who does not like Schindler's List is being stupid. It's not a film for everyone. All I took issue with was the idea that Schindler was over-glorified. And it's not as if Spielberg hasn't done enough work in showing the heroism of the troops in war as well. In many ways, Schindler's form of flawed heroism doesn't get enough attention.
In the end, the Jews could not give him enough praise, and neither can I. His death was GREATLY mourned, and he was a deserving subject for a film.
Meanwhile, there is always a good chance that one of the coming LOTR movies will sneak onto my top ten list...
