How do you become a moderator?

Started by tabby99919 pages

Did you tell the guys in the Conspiracy forum? 😉

Some forums you can volunteer to be a Mod, if they are needed. Others, such as this one, like to choose their own, trusted members.
Eithor way, I think it works well, provided you have someone dedicated and non biased.🙂

Unfortunately a couple are very biased......thus it gets in the way of being a good and fair Moderator and it shows and they don't really care. Reflects poorly on KMC as a whole.

They can still make true points.

Basically every single moderator who has ever dealt with InnerRise in any way has been accused of being biased.

Yes, maybe, but that is an illogical argument, is it not? Personally I haven't seen any Moderator behave inconsistently with rules or previous behaviour in a long time, I think you guys are doing a great job, but to disregard someone's opinions and points solely by stating ad hominem argumentation is odd. There's better ways to prove him wrong I believe.

You seem to be on the offensive towards me right now. Point Proven Perhaps?

Actually No, but of course you'd see it that way.

But let's not turn this into that kind of thread shall we not. This thread is about Moderator Behaviors. Well it was, until it was merged with a thread on how to become a Moderator. Convenient.

I see what the other moderators have to say.

Will that question be discussed in this thread then?

if you have something to say, then be a man and say it instead of making snide insinuations...

being a mod on kmc is alot more difficult than it seems...

I do know for a fact that there have been incidences where one has become a Moderator b/c of having a good friendship with a fellow Moderator......not because they have good moderating qualities.

Of course, said member also had a spotless, warning-free record that had been maintained ever since his joining, and a reputation for being intelligent, reasonable, and rule-abiding. Oh, and good grammar may have helped him, too.

And as Raz and the Globals have never questioned said member's moderating methods and behavior, reason would seem to indicate that he became (and remained) moderator on merit, not simply because he had a couple friends who were mods already.

Oh, I wonder who you could be talking about? Gee, hmm, who could it be? 😐

Methinks this pair of mods you speak of must be doing their jobs well. It's said you can tell how well someone in a position of power is doing by how many people under them dislike them.

You become a moderator by Raz deciding he needs a new mod, the current mods suggest members they think would do the job well, and Raz selects from them.

The system for moderators is the same set of rules for the rest of the members. However, as they can only become mods by being voted so, this usually isn't an issue because the members suggested tend to follow the rules anyway.

what you wanna be a MOD for?

pretty pathetic life that eh🙂

Man of Christ is trying to become a mod so I won't close anymore of his banal and pointless threads he constantly makes in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy forum, which I have constantly tried explaining the rules for, yet he declines to listen to reason.

Does Raz contact you about it? on another forum when I was selected I got a PM from the Admin explaining somethings, then another PM to tell me my position had changed to mod.

Yup. That's how it happened to me, at least. Raz PMed me telling me some of the other mods had suggested me for modship, and asking if I wanted the position.

I thought so, I was just curious.

Usually Raz aims for long-time members that are reliable and show good 'citizenship,' or active members recommended by the other moderators.

Rex got his modship by pushing for the creation of the General Fiction section and helping set it up. From there he volunteered for other vacant positions and eventually went global and killed everyone in a horrible act of mod-terrorism.

I mean, uh...

That's pretty much what I did with the horror section, I asked to get it made and then volunteered to moderate it if need be, from there I became a global when the opportunity arose. Of course, the only reason this worked is because I had been a member for a good number of years and had earned trust. The members who have been active for a matter of hours and run around asking to be mods when no one knows who the hell they are are just wasting everyone's time.

Though, where as Rex killed, I raped, and killed, and then raped again.

Yeah, nowadays no one becomes mod without first appeasing BackFire's twisted desires.
