I was thinking about the Hunter bursting into flames on the way across and why if the Agents were guarding the door would they not simply cross the River and wait for us there by the door.
Maybe programs aren't allowed near the door.
Although Lo Qi did imply he could have opened it at anytime he wanted to.
And also why would the machines program in a door that only humans or messed up programs could reach if tehy do not want us to reach it?
Unless at the time they put it in they really had no worries about humans coming to it and now that they do have the fear they simply cannot remove the door. Maybe because it is the backbone of an important operating function of the Matrix.
As for the Kind being a Cyclops well cyclops have only one eye in which to observe the world maybe the King simply has only way way to view the world through the veiwpoint of a Gneral and there is no other way for him to look at it.

I don't really agree with that; I think the Agents didn't follow because they had no way across but swimming and it would simply at that point be more effective for them to shoot from where they are, because they likely wouldn't reach you guys in time.
Somehow I don't think that there was something set up to keep programs from reaching the door because after the Hunter went burny, he got back up fine and didn't really seem to act like that was anything out of the ordinary, which makes me think it isn't for him.
I do agree about the General, though. He was rather stubborn about thinking that things would and could only happen as he said they did...

Well, Hunter really seems to me like a huge programming error who ended being sentient.
Sounds like a reasonable idea that makes sense to me.

I don't think they actually believed you'd go back to the Monastery. Plus, like the Hunter said, they didn't expect the monks to be helping you.
Originally posted by LanaThat is true although it does make sense that he only burst into Flames crossing the water and was fine once he got back on land.

You guys had been on the water for some time before he burst into flames, though. It's not as though it happened as soon as you all stepped into the boat. If that had happened then it would be a bit more plausible.
Plus, as you pointed out, Lo Qi did say he could have opened the door whenever he wished. He probably wouldn't have said that if there was something there that would keep him from reaching the door.

Maybe but we only assume he was a mistake he could have been made that way.Maybe he was made by Lo Qi as Lo Qi's way of reaching the door to open it.
Hmm, that could be so...which could also explain why the Hunter wasn't surprised about going toasty.
Okay, seriously, picking apart the details like this is almost making me want to go to Philo...😛

It could also explain why like the vampires and such he wasn't regenerative because regeneration wouldn't have helped from becoming burnt toast.
You should have joined the Philo. 😛

A barrier? Well, that would fit with Rex's "firewall" idea, though I think he was just joking when he said that...could be though.
And when the first game started, there were more people on Philo than Combat, and I was one of the ones that switched over to Combat 😛

Of course my idea could all get flushed once the Agents cross the lake 😛
That sucks for you. 😄

That really does actually make a lot of sense.
(though I still like my phoenix idea 😛)
And really, I think if the Agents were going to go after you, then they would have done so once the door was open instead of continuing to stand there and shoot.
The only thing I can see being a problem with this theory is that there's a big deal made of the fact that if the key fell into the System's hands, then it would be very, very bad, which always inferred to me that they would be able to open the door.
Hmmm.
Heh, I'll admit, I've found myself wishing I stuck with Philo...but on the other hand? Combat path is just plain fun. Plus they'd all be screwed without me telling them what to do 😛

I mean the door was made by the system why would they need access something they made.
And you are right the combat path seems kind of fun going against 3000 Sentinels. 😛
