I agree with you on May as a good Horror flick. Not scary but the scene with the blind children and the broken glass was very disturbing. I don't think any horror movie has ever captured such a sickening scene.

Thanks Lil B. I haven't seen Deathwatch yet. Do you recommend it?As for whether I'm a girl, I'm not. But no need for the " 😮 " I don't mind the presumption at all. I guess I should have expected it, considering my name and avatar. In fact, if you read my post and thought that I was female, I take that as a big compliment. Being pegged, based on my writing, as being the more intelligent of the sexes. And hey, I'm in touch with my feminine side.
😄
Sorry for the confusion. It was not intentional. I just loved the film, and the character.

😄 wow...my favourite member!!
Deathwatch is very different, in a sense that the whole war thing hasnt been done before...well not in this way anyway...
I mentioned it because it does the same thing 28 days later does...when i thought about it....
The first half of the film is very well done, then the second half if just....not as good.
Its psychological as well...which makes it better, its very shocking, as it also vividly potrays conditions of the WWI as well as the later killings as they arrive in that god forsaken trench, where the main body of the film happenes....
the cast is really good as well...
Id say see it, it does the similar thing 28 days later does, as i said before...
28 days later....hmm..i dont know, i might give it another go although im not sure my mind will change...
28 days later's second half gets alot of flack from people (mostly people who don't really know much about horror films, from my experiences), but the second half was completely neccessary and only expanded on what the first half did so well.
I can understand why people don't like the second half, it's a drastic and sudden change from the soft, calm and touching first half of the film, which is basically used to develop the characters so we care about them when the trouble in the second half arises.
I actually thought the second half of the film was just as strong as the first half, it incorperated alot of the same ideas that Day of the Dead brought to the table, but it did it in a much more relevent way, while avoiding the cheesiness that Day of the Dead has. (Capturing an infected early in the outbreak to learn when it will die is much more believable then capturing a zombie several years after the world has been destroyed to try to learn something about them that will serve no actual purpose).
28 Days later also presents us with some of the most likeable characters, which are developed much more adequately then in other horror movies, you end up caring for them the way you would care for characters in a drama, not a horror movie that uses it's time to bad jump scares and needless gore.
Anywho, the second half of the film was, in my opinion, done better then in any other movie with similar happenings, it really caused my heart to pump very fast and got my adreniline pumping. Something very few movies do too me. Also the fact that we cared about these characters made their turmoil much more powerful then in any other horror movie, period.
All in all, 28 Days Later is the best horror film of the past 10 years, while it's idea and premise are nothing new, it's use of dramatic elements used to make us care for the characters on screen are nothing short of breathtaking in my book, and the fact that it does this without sacraficing any good scares or heartpumping suspense leads me to believe this will go down in history as one of the greatest achievements in the horror genre ever.
Resident Evil freaked me out. I mean, I got really messed up nerves 😛 and when I saw that movie in the cinema, it rocked! I've never seen any movie that scary.. ok.. there were some minor mistakes made in it. I mean where the laser net sliced that man and he fell apart into cubicles (it's kinda impossible - especially the eye part I think), but other than these little things, the movie still rocked! Now I just hope that "RESIDENT EVIL: Apocalypse" doesn't suck as sequels often do..
