The flourescent bars of light which lined the room buzzed about, and nearly blinds those who enter due to its extremely bright setting, like a second sun the others have said.
The walls were made of old brick, so was everything else. Pipes of different sizes still line the ceiling, and the walls. The lack of windows also gives away where this place was.
"Welcome to the sewers... or our new home."
Sitting on the counter of their makeshift kitchen was a young lady, one in her late teens with the tone of voice expressing some experience, and humour to their current situation. She wore ragged clothes, and had a piece of cloth wrapped around her eyes. She was blind, in a sense.
The other children surrounded a square table and was eating their meals quite quickly, showing no notice to Shadow as he entered, like most kids they had a one track mind. But these weren't like most kids. They were mutants, everyone in the room were mutants.
A giant pot, or a cauldron one could say was hanging above a large fire pit. The scent of blended spices, and the distinctive aroma of chicken was filling the room.
"Smell it? I cooked it myself... a staple food at the camp... but thanks to Glass." The girl suddenly turned to a young boy, as if she could see, with bright blonde hair, and eyes as blue as the ocean suddenly turn transparent for a few seconds, and turns to his original color as he continues on eating. "Yes, we were able to borrow some spices from the deli and restuarant close by."
Turning back to Shadow she smiled, and extended a hand, motioning him to take it, "I am Sarissa, the voice in your head... yes my power is telepathy... and I see the world through the eyes of those around me... they've given me a proper nickname."
Suddenly, one of the children, the young windshifter, smiled and spoke out in her little voice, "Big Sister."
"Yes, I am their Big Sister," Sarissa smiled, "I watch over them, their caretaker... and you are welcome to stay with us."
Karen, hearing voices, tried to get up, but it would hurt her badly. She was coming back, she could feel heat somewhere. She tried opening her eyes this time, and it worked.Karen looked up then tried to look around for Shadow. She couldnt take it any longer she had to get up, so she moved her arm really fast, and it hurt her like knives ripping her skin, she screamed in pain.
Ghost stood silently in the dark, watching as Karen moved from the table. He began approaching her but stopped as she sat up and screamed, making him step back a few steps as it frightened him. He took a few more steps back, and leaned on the wall just merely watching, like a newborn he had no idea on what to do.
