okie TM being an absolute novice in FFX
what good is defending worth as an action?

It depends. Against weaker fiends it's kinda pointless, because they don't do much damage anyway, but if you're against a boss and are in a bit of trouble, then it's worth it. Your character has pretty high defense as it is, so defending could drop damage down to almost nothing. But it all depends on what you're fighting.

okie but envolving rules what does the action defend do?
raise my defence I suppose (but as compensation I can't attacl I figure)

It just means that you don't attack for that turn, but your defense is increased against any attacks made on you until your next turn.

??? in the begging of this thread it was saying that the summoner Magica stats are influencied if it was a White or a Black mage, or am i wrong?
