We were talking about Anakin and Owen beeing steph brothers NOT HALF BROTHERS. So maybe it is your understanding that is a little unclear here. 🙄

So, not BLOOD-RELATED is the key word here.

There is no other way of being related than through blood, so they might be stephbrothers but thats it.

1)Why would you go to Tatooine?
It’s outside regulated space. The Empire has no presence there: remember the line “we would have found him sooner”? Luke is hidden there in the hope that he will be over-looked just as Anakin was.
2)Why would you give the child to Vader's kin?
Star Wars is the story of a family – the real question is “Did Vader ever stop being a Skywalker?”
3)Why would the child keep the name Skywalker?

Here’s my theory again - Anakin was powerful enough to see the whole of his destiny from a young age. He knew that in order to defeat the Emperor and bring balance to the force he would need to experience both the light and dark sides equally. He arranges with the Jedi council to have his children 'hidden' whilst he ventured into the dark side: he was the Jedi council's man-on-the-inside, so to speak.

I believe he programmed 3PO to act as chaperone for his children's quest to bring him out from the dark side's influence so he could complete his own destiny. Apart from the more powerful and committed Jedi - OBI and Yoda - a droid was the only ally Vader could trust to avert the influence of the dark side and avoid detection. 3PO knows nothing about it. *A neat twist on the whole destiny theme - 3PO is following some deep rooted program, just as Anakin and Luke are*

This is the only way - in my opinion - that Lucas can justify and bring credence to his bizarre decision to make Anakin 3PO's creator. Anakin was in on the whole affair, as were OBI and Yoda. 3PO, and maybe R2, were crucial linchpins in Anakin and the Jedi’s strategy – a couple undetectable saviours who could act without the emperor’s knowledge of them.

We will see (fingers crossed) that the events of the OT were planned to the letter by the Jedi council. OBI, Yoda and Anakin (Vader) knew exactly what needed to happen to defeat the emperor and set the wheels in motion at the time Luke / Leia were born. The prequels will establish this and throw a whole new light on the OT.

I'll put money on it - I'm more convinced as time goes on (and yet no-one has ever even entertained the possibility that I might be right). 😎

I'll put finti's money on it. So why don't they all gang up on Palpatine if they know about him? I don't think your theory works. C-3PO is in TPM just as eye-candy. There is no deeper meaning.

I'm suggesting they knew Anakin embraced the dark side knowing that one day his own son - under the guidance of OBI and Yoda, and with 3PO in tow, as agreed and planned - will provide him with a route out, at which time he will defeat the Emperor, end the sith line, bring balance to the force and 'return' as a jedi.

The theory does not work because it buggers up the central development point for Anakin. He turnd to EVIL. He duid not do it in some form of cunning plan to defeat the Emperor. The whole point was that he actually turned BAD_ genuinely and for real, not for any higher motive.

The whole dramatic sweep is ruined if you just think Anakin turned bad as some sort of plan.

Also, a valid point. Ahh the choices we make. Who'd have thought that a sweet little boy like Anakin Akywalker would turn out to be a Dark warrior?

So did GL, at one point- he was originally envisaged at 12 to 14. But GL made him younger because he thought it would accentuate the pain of being seperated from his mother.

about what was said earlier about obiwan and uncle owen. my understanding is perfectly fine. they are NOT step brothers. from what i have read in other posts, shmi marries another man and has a son called owen. that makes owen and anakin half brothers. so kiss my tattooed sith ass.
