She wanted to scream 'stop reading my emotions!' but she knew he couldn't help it. His gift was also a curse. She nodded. "Yes, that is what I thought." She said quietly. "I trust you, we'll go tonight. I would like to stop at the palace to change and to let Ewan know I'm alright, if that's ok with you." She wanted to change into the shirt he gave her for her birthday.
She swam at his speed through the cold waters, her skin was getting cold, but that was ok, she didn't mind. She was too excited to see what he was going to show her. She looked up and saw incredible streaks of orange, yellow, pink, and purple against the blue sky. "It's so beautiful." She said smiling. She had never seen anything like it. She went up to the surface and had seen run rises, but these colors seemed to dance and glow. "What are they?"
Ewan woke up sweating from the second nightmare that night. He had seen them. The Atlantians. They were coming. He got up from his bed, threw on a coat, and went to consult the counsel. They were old mermen, all five of them with long grey and white beards. Ewan knew that they had also seen them coming. "What must I do?" The head of the counsel, the oldest one, dressed all in white got up.
"You must send word to Nortingard. They will come to our aid. Without their help, the kingdom will fall."
Ewan nodded, taking it in. "I understand." He went to the palace courtyard to think. It was a round area, walled in on all sides by stone. There were various aquatic plants growing there. He would send a messenger to Nortingard to get their help. What would he do next? He would warn the merpeople. Tell them that they were coming. But first, he had to tell Lila. Of course, he had no idea where she was. He could sense that she was safe, at least. He reached out with his feelings (yes I stole that from Obi-Wan). "Lila, can you hear me?"
