Ewan went to put on his battle armor. First he put on a leather shirt. It was long-sleeved and had gold lines in various places--on the sleeves, around the neck, etc. Then he put a heavy chainmail shirt on over it. (it went down to just below where the scales and human skin touched and was short sleeved) Now he fastened a breastplate on at the sides and put on a pair of thick leather gautlets. He put his sword belt on around his waist. He wore no helmet. Mermen prefered to wear as little armor as possible.
He found the generals who helped command his army, and told them to assemble their various groups of soldiers--infantry, archers and calvary (I guess they ride dolphins or something) He went to the "barn" and mounted his dolphin, who was already wearing armor.
(( I guess LTA left, so we'll just fix it like we always do, and pretend his last post never happened 😂 ))
Lila finally drifted to sleep, but the sweet idea of sleep betrayed her when she had a nightmare about Ewan. He had gone to war and the army they were fighting was too big. He was in the front line when he was attacked, stabbed and ripped open. Lila awoke, sitting strait up in the bed. She looked around, still feeling the fear of the nightmare. Thay had his arm around her and his tail fin wrapped around hers. She slowly got out of his grasp and got out of bed. She walked over to the balcony and looked out. She missed Ewan so much.
Ewan rode out to the "field" where his army was already assembled. "How many men have come to fight?" Ewan asked his head general.
"4000, my lord."
"Four thousand.. against an army of ten thousand Atlantians.." Ewan turned to his army. "Form in ranks four hundred men long," he shouted to them. He turned to see the Atlantian army marching (or swimming, whatever) towards them. His army was shifting around nervously.
For a moment a tight knot of fear twisted in his stomach. He turned to the four thousand troops behind him. They were an impressive sight. Each wore armor similar to his, only not as fancy. Each also wore a long cloak, the color of red wine. "Mermen of my kingdom," he shouted out at them. "I can see your fear. It is the same fear that I have. Perhaps the kingdom will fall one day. But not as long as I live. Not today. Today, we shall stand and face the enemy. Many will die. Those who do will be remembered always. Today, we shall stand and fight for all that is good in this life. Today, we shall stand and fight. And we will be victorious!!" Ewan pulled out his sword and raised it above his head. The opposing army had started chanting something, and hitting their swords against their sheilds or pounding their spears on the sandy bottom. Ewan let out a loud cry, and to his surprise, all the soldiers in the army did the same. They made such a roar that the sound the enemy was making became inaudible. He lowered his sword towards the Atlantians and charged at them, signaling to his army to attack.
