Halo didn't grab me off the bat like halo 2 did. And I have gone back to play soem of the levels, earth especially, and it is a ton of fun. Being able to hop around on the tops of the buildings is so much fun. I can't wait to play through it again and just be able to explore all the little things I didn't find on my first run.
The prophets think of us as infidels. a affront to their gods.*(this could mean that since we developed space travel on our own without forerunner technology, they think we are heretics. This is a popular theory because of the overlying proof. Almost all covenant technology is based off of forerunner technology(hence why the heretics had such backwards tech(the grunts with the bulky backpacks and breathing mask ect). so when humanity was discovered, in space with no evident forerunner technology, we perhaps defied all that they had held true? maybe that they belived the forerunners had allowed them to go to space, or some other outlandish ideal)
and at the end, the prophet of truth mentions making sure those who were left behind are not left behind again. then his ship arrives at earth. coincidence? does that mean Earth and humanity survived the activation of a halo? does that mean in their religion that our sins weighed us down from being swept along by the holy winds of Halo, and because our sins weighed us down we weren ot brought to salvation?
why is it that 343 Guilty spark and 2401 kept refering to the Master Chief as "reclaimer"? And then later on 343 Refers to Maranda Keyes with the mysterious title of "reclaimer". He* didnt refer to the brutes, or other covenant with the title of reclaimer. The original theory is that the Master Chief's armor looked reminiscent of what the reclaimers used in ages past. This promts the discussion of whether technology reaches deja vu. where we discover the same thigns agian in almost the same application.
With the release of halo 2, even more light is shed upon the "reclaimers". When 343 refers to Maranda as a "Reclaimer" he completely proves that humanity are the reclaimers.
"Protocol does not allow units with my classification to... perform a task as important as the reunification of the index with the core. That final step is reserved for you, Reclaimer." Why would tantarus force Maranda to insert the index if he could have done it himself? My belief is that simply: he couldnt. If he could, why would he allow a infidel to start the great journey?
however 343 also states "If you are unwilling to help, I will simply find another. Still, I must have the index."what this proposed was worth thinking about(at least before we played halo 2). what fits the 343's standard of reclaimer?
For more on the human/reclaimer theory, go to this site:http://halosm.bungie.org/story/newssearch.html?newsitem=623
excert:343 GUILTY SPARK: "Ridiculous! That you would imbue a warship's AI with such a wealth of knowledge! Weren't you worried it might be captured? Or destroyed?"
CORTANA: "He's in my data arrays, a local tap!"
343 GUILTY SPARK: "You can't imagine how exciting this is! To have a record of all of our lost time! Human history, is it? Fascinating." ... "Oh how I will enjoy every moment of its categorization! And to think that you would destroy this installation. As well as this record. I am shocked. Almost too shocked for words."
343GS appeared to have collated some of this data contained within Cortana. What is interesting is that maybe Guilty Spark have never had the pleasure of perusing the Halo's vast database: "Protocol does not allow units with my classification to· perform a task as important as the reunification of the index with the core."
After all, he is disgusted when he discovers Cortana in the core: "A construct?! In the core?! That is absolutely unacceptable!"
This was his first time he could put all of the pieces together. He is shocked. Why? Has he realised that Humans are indeed somehow related to the Forerunner in some way, he understands the Chiefs apparent irrational behaviour; i.e. why he has poor weapons to combat the flood and only has a class 2 battle skin, and to top it off; that the reclaimer is about to destroy the installation along with the original record of the lost time.

and why are some idiots saying that Halo 2 has a thin storyline? I myself think that humans are a remenant of the Forerunners, which would make sense when Guilty Spark refers to them as "reclaimer", or people reclaiming something they once had. This also would back up the theory that the Ark is Earth or on Earth, being as that would be where the last of the decendents of the Forerunners are found. On a side note, on the Collector's Edition DVD for Halo 2, the making of documentary shows a white board with designs of levels for Halo 2 and their names. One of the maps that is shown has the title "Earth_Ark", which gives even more proof that Earth is or has the Ark.

Halo 2's "thin" story is debatable. In reality, it is more a story thats symbolism(the number 7), and other theories are debated even after the story resolves.
Ah, just think about it. After we finished Halo: CE, we said things that roughly translated to:"Gee, suprisingly, one of the things I'm looking forward to next is the plot." Bungie listened, and replied.
Now, after finishing Halo 2, we're all saying things that roughly translate to:"What happens next, dammit?!"
Makes me wonder what the third one will be like.
The only part of Halo 2 which I found to be the same as Halo 1 was when Humans followed that ship to another Halo world.
But when they got there though it WAS different.
Those Brutes weren't hard to kill like were they?
Knowt but big giant teddy bears.
The only time they became troublesome was when they charged you, BUT they were still easily delt with, HA,HA,HA, Stupid Brute!
Great graphics on tnem though.
